14r Horn Button For Shifting

trying to hook up my horn to the solenoid, I run the ground wire from the horn to the solenoid and it shifts when I turn the key on, I'm wanting to use the horn button if possible but it doesn't want to work. I have the ground disconnected from the horn itself, would it matter if it's connected to the horn or not?

Use a test light and make sure it's the wire that goes to ground when the horn button is pressed.

Wee this is how to wire up your air shifter to your horn button and still use the horn when your not using it as an air shifter. any questions give me a call, mine works great already tried it out.

I mounted the toggle switch to the left of the tach and velcroed the relay to the ram air tube

By doing this you are turning the horn system back to a ground system for activating like the 06-011 fourteens. Sorry tried to make it neat and orderly was a long day at work.

I used a DPDT switch. It has 6 connection points(looks like the number 6 on dice). I took the horn switch across the 2 center connectors. The air shifter across one of the sides and the horn across the other. Works perfect and no relay needed.

Brucer that's fine if you have a 06-011 fourteen those horn systems work off a ground activation from the factory. The 2012 uses 12v + coming from the fusebox through the switch down to the horn and the other wire on the horn goes to ground totally opposite of an 06-011 thats why you need the relay.

So if you don't care about the horn working, race only .........

1. Cut both wires attached to the horn button.
2. Ground one wire.
3. Extend the other wire and attach to the air shifter.

???

____________
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Yep. The air shifter solenoid ground can routed to the horn button and the then ground the other wire coming off the horn.

kawitom said ..the horn button is hot 12volt.. that would means you ground 1 wire from the silenoid to the frame and run 1 wire to the horn button..

correct the mps trigger wire works off a negative source .. can't hook that to 12 volt positive.. but there should be a way with using the relay to trigger ground by using the horn switch as the power source for the relay.. i think maybe

Yes, this one incorporates the relay to make it easier to set up.

http://www.mpsracing.com/instructions/MPS/Switch%20Swapper%20Horn_Shifter.pdf

With a relay, pushing the horn button sends a ground to the blue wire on the autoshifter, regardless of whether the horn button supplies ground or 12 volts.

Wonder why Kawasaki made an "unnecessary" change to switch 12 volts at the horn button instead of switching ground????

Do you think the MPS (1-0285 sportbike airshifter wiring harness) will work. The reason I'm
asking is I have already order it and it will be here tomorrow. Just want to know if I need to order something else. Thinks

Since there is no relay, I would say it will NOT work on the 2012.

Agreed. I was saying that it will not work - as delivered from MPS.

The link I posted to the other MPS part includes the relay and makes it easy for people that don't know or care to know how relays and switches work.
