The New ZX14 vs 2008-10 ZX14

MMMMMM I think I will keep my 2009 and be satisfied with it, for those that have the money to go and get the new one please do so I would really like to see them on the road or even hear about the HP gains. Then I would like to see if the new motor can fit into the older models. I have heard and read all the posting on the 2012 ZX14 and I am liking what I am hearing with the exception of some of the not necessary mods that Kaw thought to add for some un-GODLY reason. Other than that as long as we keep beating up on the BUSA I am fine with the 2009 I have. Now on another note you all know what the BOOSA BAN Whiners are going to say "It took Kawasaki 3 Gen to get it right". I for one thought we had it right back in 2006 then again in 2008 and now, we just keep raising the bar for them to look at with awwwwwwe!!! Well thanks Kawasaki for making something else that I can take pride into owning!!!! My 2009 ZX14 and now the 2012 ZX14. Also special thanks to Ricky G, and Brock for being great pioneers in our sport you have both made a impact on me and others. SMOKINZX14 go ahead and get you one so I can watch you rip on YouTube and Shane I am waiting on you as well to post another outstanding play by play thread on the new 14. Either way I like what I am hearing and to those that have the 2006-2010 just keep beating the Boosa's.

JSmooth....you are talking like you are after my own heart! I am a hottrodder at heart and I love the concept of putting large displaced engine into a smaller body/frame! I would love to have the new ZX14R's engine in my 06 candy thunder blue Kaw!

I am also thinking about the way the economy is and going. My thought process is quite simple lets drop the old motor and add the new, from what I have been reading there are a couple or welds that are made a bit stiffer in places and the same in others. However I am still trying to get to the shop and get some measurement and see if this is possible, especially if I can save myself about 10,000 and just buy the motor. Others here may have some deep pockets but I for one do not, and yes I do tinker a bit with bikes and try to add this to that. I have a buddy of mine that converted a 96 CBR 900RR and dropped in the XXX BlackBird what are your thoughts on that. Where I am from you will get caught with your pants down running up on a 750 with 1000 motor or more you never know. So yes I am researching now on what I can do with this motor in my 2009.

Geared correctly bolt-on vs bolt-on, the ZX12 did it back in 2000-and I "ran down" so called "pros" with it.

I cant remember where, but I heard the frame is a little narrower than the 2011 frame. That would make for more difficult installation. I was thinking the same thing, i dont want to get rid of my 2010, nor drop 15000 on a new one, but i would love the new engine. Keep us posted when you do find out

I'm trying to get an idea of what I am going to need. Are big boy mods needed on the new 14r? Like lowered pegs and upgraded rear spring? I'm 6,4 and weigh 210 unsuited and trying to go lower.

the only thing about a motor only swap is you would need the computer as well to take advantage of the traction control goodies. I don't know if they are incorporated into the injectors, lots of stuff to think about...

personally for the money you could get your motor stroked with some headwork and good pistons and make some serious ponies

If I were get the motor stroked and had the head work done how much would my gas mileage change? I am thinking of dropping a 1441 kit in my 09. What are the +/- to this? Also I am wondering why didn't Kawasaki make the new 14r ratio a 12.5:1?

Khi did all the work for you, but built it on a Stronger platform ??

12.3 to 1 Forged pistons, 6 grams lighter
3 mm longer Rods, strong bolts, bigger on small and big ends,
Crank has 2 mm bigger mains
65 mm stroke, 4 mm increase
Oil squiters to cool and lub pistons
Deck is 4 mm taller to accomidate longer rods
Head has CNC'd combution chambers, not cast as before
Larger intake Valves, 33.4mm.. vs 33mm, hand finished ports,
Larger Exhuast Valves ...28.3mm = 175 cfm @ 28*,... vs ...27mm = 157 cfm @ 28*
Header is matched to HEAD flow , tapered from 1.5* to 1.68* into merge collector
Air filter flow 40% more
Better cooling , extra fan , bigger radiater
Self adjusting Cam chain tensioner
25 + HP increase

AND IT's WARRANTED
