Yup why not .. It will make some power for sure .. Just make sure you get your cam timing and PVC right .. I take it you are not going to run a SS class , so why didn't you have him do a little more work under the seats ?

Brian came down and did the set up, degreed the cams and put it back together. I had a local machine shop take .040 off and just didn' t think to have them do anything else. I am not sure I would trust anyone but Jim or Quantum to do anything else to the ports, etc so I played it safe.

No I don' t. I may send a spare set out after we do the MR12 and pump gas tunes and see what it makes.I have a 179 hp base with air filter in on a shinko from a few mos back. It's going to skew my gains bad enough with no filter and allysin oil plus a street tire after the ss head and I want to know exactly what the TB's give me afterwords assuming conditions are simular.

I'm not big on dyno numbers because conditions change so much. But what did it MPH before the head was done??

1/8th mile 122-23 with my weight 186 suited in 90-105 degree heat. I had a 3100 ft DA on my best trip. The reason I am telling you this is its really starting to cool off now and it will look like the new set up is giving even more power then it actually is. I estimate 2 tenths max and MAYBE 3 mph on pump gas and thats being optomistic. I may have to get less agressive gearing also for the extra power and quicker revs.

That would be bad ass to see you go 125+ on it. I'm getting ready to send off one of my heads now.

40 off the head .. easy 125 to 126 MPH .. I should make about 183 184 hp ... Jesses head with 20 off made 184 up from 171 .. 13 hp gain got jesses bike to run 125 in the 1/8 mile up from his 121 122 numbers..

One thing that will toss you for a loop is how fast the motor will rev up ... My first passes on jesse bike it rev'd up so quick i hit the limiter in first and second gear ..And the motor never stop pulling like it did stock .. Even on the dyno the HP line was till going up when it banged the limiter ..

We never tried the SS head from Jim on Jesses bike .. This head was done by a friend of mine .. He mill 20 or 25 off ( can't remember if it was 20 or 25 ) .. He did just a tiny bit of bowl work just under the seat on the intake side ONLY ...No other port work... We Set the cams to IN 104 1/2 and EX 107 .. It ran damn strong .. We didn't change the mapping either but we did switch fron 87 to 93 pump gas ..I was worried about spark knock so we used 93 to be safe ..

Brian S. says with the cams degreed(thank god he did all the work) with the SS head and factory gasket it should put down a solid 15 pump gas and an extra 8-10(STD CF)on MR12. But mine is an 06 so maybe not JK

Lee, thanks for the info on the revs, I may go back to my +3 in the rear sprocket instead of the +6 currently

edit: Also with the allysin and petron plus no air filter(that's the 15 solid he estimates)

And be careful with the MR12 or MR9 with the bump in compression. remember that stuff is only 87 octane.

good call Smokin, Joey you have some numbers set, temps will be better so factor that to some degree, go to the same track compare 60's, 330's and 660. then you will see what Quantum has done hehe

Yes sir- it took a few mos but I think I'm pretty much back. I went ahead and decided against shortening my throttle, the fusion in my wrist when I twist seems manageable now. I really like the set up of the bike over all but I do miss SWB for some reason. Brian knows his stuff. I don't think I have ever seen anyone gut a bike down so fast in my life, lol. He' s done a few 14's

lookin good JZX

Our SS heads are a little different. They have an angle mill with a valvejob (seat re-profiling) done to them, as well as hand bowl work done and matching the rubber manifolds.

With our 47mm throtle bodies and mr12 fuel you get well over 200 to the rear wheel.
Bryan has made 210 on Brocks dyno with them.

Great bang for the buck.

This was a spur of the moment decision. My tuner, which is a friend of mine, showed up at the gym with Bryan and thats when I said "while your here,( only 3 days)what can we do?".

My original plans were and still are to have CP pistons with a fully done head and spring/cam package with larger TB's and mount an Adams spray bar to them So when the weather turns to crap, I'm sending head and my stock TB's to you guys( CNC).

"update" on SS head

Had to map it from scratch again. I expected the AF to be lean, it was rich, 11.8 to 12.1 just from milling the head 40 thou and cams set at a very safe 109/109.5

After mapping (for 93 pump gas and an indicated 107 degree air temp in the dyno room it put down 190hp and 108tq

The bike mad 179hp and 105tq previously in 77-83 degree dyno room temp on the same dyno.

So its safe to say with identical run conditionls the bike would make an additional 5hp, meaning the super sport head with cams degreed give 15hp to the tire. I will post the pics of the rich condition before mapping and the final result from and after mapping.

This is real world, pump gas, boiling hot temperature, standard weight oil results and still put down more then 10hp. We will do an MR12 map next and may get 8-10 exrtra with the oxygenated fuel.

Too bad we didn't have cooler weather to tune in. But I have a feeling she's gonna run better
