2nd gear on a connie is taller than 1st gear on a zx14 by a little

i don't use 1st at all .. but its 200 rpm difference at 4000 rpm ..

but what i do know after 15 passes is my 60 fts went from low 1.40's with a zx14 transmission to mid 1.40's with the gtr14 transmission using the same sprockets I've run for a year now .. but my ET' improved with less mph and in a 20mph headwind and 90 degree humidity and rich A/F's .. when i get this all dialed in i think its gonna be worth the effort .. I'm such an idiot i should just quit now ..

not at a stand still it won't .. but if rolled forward it will ..

i roll up and do my burn out in 2nd .. but yes next time i go into the motor it will because i'm going to dismatle the 2nd gear lockout and i will install the connie 1st gear for the hell of it

Gear Ratio 1st 3.333 (50/15) 2nd 2.415 (41/17) 3rd 1.900 (38/20) 4th 1.545 (34/22) 5th 1.292 (31/24) 6th 1.074 (29/27) this the gtr14 gear ratio

Gear Ratio 1st 2.625 (42/16) /2nd 1.947 (37/19) / 3rd 1.545 (34/22) / 4th 1.333 (32/24) / 5th 1.154 (30/26) / 6th 1.036 (29/28) this the zx14 gear ratio

note 2nd gear on the connie 2.415 (41/17) vs the zx14 1st gear 2.625 (42/16) .. now i don't understand why i was fighting wheelies .. i didn't know how this was gonna work until i tried it .. now i'll play with it more and get some bugs out .. but it sure is nice getting rid of an extra shift

If your numbers are right the zx-14 gears are lower in first than the connie's 2nd gearing ie. 2.625 is a lower gear ratio than 2.415. Are the gears interchangable between models? If so you could create custom gear ratios to play with.

numbers are from KHI

yes you right my bad .. IT was too early in the morning for me .. all gears are interchangable but 1st gear due to gear being made on input shaft .. and you have to change or use the shift fork thats on the shaft by itself to the connie transmission when using the connie gears

the input shaft on a connie is about a 1/2 inch longer due to the slipper clutch on a connie is the only reason i didn't install 1st gear

Why not just gear it up with like a 36 or 38 tooth rear sprocket?

Yea but if your first gear is that low then it shouldn't it make the lower tooth count managable since your first gear is that low? Im no expert here, just guessing?

i just did the calculations .....

18/38 sprockets with the concours tranny was the same over all gearing in 1st gear as

16/42 sprockets on a zx14 tranny ( assuming that they both have 1.541 primary ratios)

with a 213 mph top speed

but it does show a 2000 rpm drop on the gear shifts.... might be a bit much for normally aspirated motors.
