ever wonder?

Did ya ever wonder what the flat finish on 08 special edition would look like cleared over? I hated the flat finish of my 08 special edition...so I am having it clearcoated. Here's a teaser pic. Will be a few weeks before I can get the parts back to me and put it back together. Can't wait!! It's gonna be awesome.

Does that have a gunmetal, black chrome look or is it just the pic?

what I've found out is that the flat finish is a bitch to keep up on. It shows everything. Always looks dirty. I thought it was going to be super easy to keep up, but not even close. Kinda surprised me. I think the gloss bodywork is going to go great with the satin finish of the frame/wheels/swingarm.

Here's another pic of the side fairings with/without flash.

My buddy at BD Cycles in Lancaster, SC is doing the spraywork. He mostly does cruisers, but will do sportbikes on occasion. Check out his site and his workmanship. This is not some cheap paintjob...he does high quality work. I'm just glad he's a buddy of mine.

+1! I didn't really like the way the 06's did the flat black lowers so I had mine painted to match the rest of the bike.

The only flat color I liked was the 05 636 titanium.

Unless the whole bike is flat black like osr's 14

+1 Flat black on a late model street Sport Bike looks cheep or unfinished.

Too each his own. Q.P. post a pic when it is all back together.

I did like flat black until I moved to El Paso. Now, everone whose cousin is a mechanic and brother does bodywork puts flat black rattle can on everything!!! I gues it hides the sorry body and paint and it is cheap.
Come on PEOPLE!!!! a flat black hood does NOT look like carbon fibre.
Seriously, a flat black bike does look good, but it is cheapened by all the people who use it to hide shoddy workmanship.

Too much chrome looks getto.Just a piece or so looks looks good chromed. Too much carbon fiber does not look good to me either. Flat black on a Race bike is cool but not on new street bike. To each his own. :-) you can over do anything...... well maybe not H.P. gain.

not sure why chrome is an issue here...non on mine.

Flat black just looks unfinished and bland. It's an accent, not a primary finish. Looks cheap IMO.
