New 1000 BMW problems
A friend of ours in South Africa's new Bm 1000 through a rod at a very high speed luckly the guy didn't fall apparantly there is some problems regarding this world wide is this happening in the states aswell. BM don't want to fix the bike because he has a aftermarket pipe on, I will stick with my 14 best bike ever

I have a friend who AMA roadraces the new BMW. No blown motors yet.

That sucks for the owner but I would need to know the rider and his/her style of riding (wring the guts out, extended wheelies etc) how well they take care of (Maintenance) to make a call as being an issue with BMW build quality or not.
If in fact BMW is declining covering under warranty solely to having an aftermarket exhaust that would be of concern but again could be more to this story than just that reason.

Impossible to say whether it was rider or bmw error. After all, fish blew up a 14 and they turned out ok...

Man those BMW's look like they'd be one hell of a ride. I don't want to buy one just give me two days to play on one and I'd be happy.

I dislike all liter bikes for drag racing , not just BMW ..

If I had a stronger desire to get a BMW, I would get the Red, White, and Blue one! This is the first I've heard of engine failure.

I have heard of 3 so far them tossed rods and one that just locked up .. I wonder how many have been sold so far ? I have not seen one at the track yet or even on the street .. I did see one at a bike show that was red white and blue , very nice looking bike ..It was 16k so it must have been loaded with all the goodies ..

Dayum Lee, I guest they may have put more $ on electronics & not spread the RD on the whole package. These companies should know that their machines will be used as they market them

3 zx14 from 2006 till now .. 3 BMWs and it just came out .. you do the math

no motor is indestructible busas 14s BMWs they all go KA-BOOM its just a mater of time when they go but they all GO
