still didn't answer the question though...I am fully aware of what ohlins brings to the table. But looking for other options with remote preload. I ride solo and two up all the time and being able to adjust accordingly easy, is key.

I agree rear preload options suck why not like the Concours 14. I wonder if that one would fit.

Wilbers is a option. Friend has one on a FJR1300 and he likes it. He did say he had to wait on a different spring as they are made in Germany. Ohlins are hard to beat.

hmmmmmm..not sure. I used to have a set of Wilber shocks on my ZRX dragbike and they were awesome. I've found all sorts of shocks for the 14, but only the Ohlins with remote preload.

I thought the Wilber shock on the FJR1300 was remote preload??? I will call him and ask my friend. I looked on the web site, it states remote spring preload. www.wilbersamerica.com

I think Elka was talking about making a shock for the 14 last year sometime. Don't know if they ever got around to it or not but it is worth checking out.

penski not remote preload, but the adjuster is way better.
Merge racing makes a hydraluic local preload adjuster for the dirt bike crowd that could be used on street bikes if space allows.

Shane661 has a Penske that is set up for Drag racing. Look on his really long and cool build thread.

Haven't looked yet, but does it have remote preload adjustment? That is what this thread is all about.

i think a connie shock would be a supercheap way to gt into adjustable preload if it will fit the 14.
going from passenger and luggage mode to raise hell light mode is twist of the knob on the adjuster.
the stock 14 shock is crap no matter what one does with it, unless you're the 150-160 pound rider it was designed for.

My old Honda VFR800 had that remote preload feature, it was pretty darn convenient.

I had a Hagon shock on my ZX12 and thought it was a great, they now do a monoshock with remote preload: http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/HAGON_MONOSHOCKS.html.
Cheaper than Ohlins.
or try Maxton http://www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk/

thanks for the link Chris...hadn't even thought of the Brit stuff. Called Quinn's and prices were very reasonable. Might just have to give them a go...

Jon did you see if Wilbers make a shock for the 14?? It's a Brit shock too. :-)
The Wilbers on George's FJR1300 is remote.

I don't have remote preload with my Penske (not an issue for me). If you must have it, get the Ohlin$.

I think the Wilbers stuff is German. Pretty sure Kraus told me that when I got mine for my dragrex. Not 100% sure though.
I have not checked them out yet.
The Hagon is very reasonably priced...doing some more research on them now.

I could be wrong about where the Wilbers are made. George purchased his from a site
in the UK.

I liked the Hagon because it was easy to adjust - preload and damping (harder or softer). For street riding it worked very well. The damping adjustment made a real difference it would go from rock hard to bouncey soft! (unlike some where 10 clicks makes naff-all difference)
I had an Ohlins shock and Road and Track forks on my '98 R1 trackday bike, and after that experience I am not a big fan of Ohlins kit, well made but "out of the box" I found it very difficult to adjust. After much fruitless twiddling of adjusters I handed the shock and forks to Maxton, who resprung and revalved them. BIG difference on the track.
