1/8 mile testing Jesse new engine setup..

Jesse only got a few runs in before the rains came but i'm pretty happy with the outcome .. Jesses best MPH a few weeks ago with the CT pipe and his old setup Avg 120 to 121 MPH at Sunshine speedway .. This was in 40 to 50 deg temps .. This time it was 70 and dropped to 68 69 deg when the sun went down .. His best run tonight was a 1.63 60 footer , 6.07 @ 125.39 ... He had two other runs , one with a 1.86 60 footer @ 124.90 ...One with a 1.71 60 footer @ 124.90 ( he missed the third gear shift ).. 1.63 is far from Jesse best 60 foot times but i understand with a fresh setup making more HP that his old setup it's going to take Jesse more than 3 passes to get the hang of it ..

While i'm not all that happy about the ETs tonight I am very happy with the MPH increase .. 4 MPH tells me we are headed the right way .. To lay down 124.90 MPH with a 1.86 60 footer tells me this thing is hauling butt on the big end ..With Jesses old motor making 171 HP and his new motor making 184 i was in hope of seeing a gain of 2 MPH in the 1/8 mile .. I was very happy to see a 4 MPH gain in the 1/8 mile..

Next we have to get Jesse down to the 1/4 mile track and see what he MPHs there ..BMP track allways runs MPH more in the 1/8 mile than Sunshine Speedway does...BMP is for me and most people is one to two MPH faster but the ETs remains close to the same ...I'm betting if Jesse gets a clean pass we will see 157 to 158 MPH..Once Jesse gets back into the 1.50s 60 foot times we should see some low 5.90s , maybe a high 5.80 in the 1/8 mile ( fingers crossed ) ..

Jessie has never pulled 125 anything at stock wheelbase, no matter what his 60' was.

You can expect around 30mph on the back half when the bike is tuned correctly.

I'm not going to flame you .. I have heard that over and over but it has never worked that way for me ..The better 60 footer i have i allways MPH more .. Look at Jesses 1.86 60 @ 124.90 Vs his 1.63 @ 125.38

Last year i put down a 1.34 60 footer on my 06 zx14 and ran 127.99 MPH .. That was the best MPH in the 1/8 mile if have had ..So your thinking is if i run a 1.40 60 footer i should run 130 MPH ? Well i don't , with a 1.40 60 footer i run 123 to 124 ..

Here are tickets from the same track same day.. Better 60 more MPH .. I'm not saying that what works for me works for everyone else ..My MPH and ETs stay pretty close , i don't see big swings in ET and MPH like some people do ..

This was a different day but still better 60 and more MPH ..

My experience is that it's not about the 60 foot. I can run 152 mph on a 1.45, or on a 2.3 60 foot.

Mph and ET don't correlate precisely in my experience, but there are some techniques to maximize mph at the expense of ET. Since I am into LSR, I've spent quite a bit of time exploring that.

Just my experience, ymmv.

Sounds like it is running strong. Also a lot of moisture in the air early on, if we get some cool dry days look out.

Here's a direct quote from Brock.
He seems to know a thing or two about drag racing.

"If you aren’t accelerating hard on the front half of the track, you can’t MPH on the back half either."

I'm guessing that the 60 ft. is part of the front half ....................

34 mph back half on a slow front half. 152 mph, in 100 degree heat. Equal mph to what the bike ran on 9.1 ET's that same day. I guess my point is that I wouldn't get too hung up on the mph #'s, it's an ET game.

Like i said Sunshine track is allway down MPH Vs BMP track ... At BMP he should go 126 to 127 , so if he back halfs 30 MPH he should be around 157 ... I'm ok with that .. His best before the motor work was 155 at AMA Dragbike in Ga ..

So if you are on the racetrack for an extra 1/2 second you didnt gain any more mph?

There are a lot more factors to it than how long you are on the racetrack, as I'm sure you are aware.

I've done my testing, and I'm ok with what I've found. Like I said, ymmv.

Back on topic, Jesse's new motor seems very strong.

all that motor and only a 6.08? Pussy.

Looking forward to seeing you get it down the track with some good short times. Lucky for you have someone that is guiding you down the path that knows how to get there. I'd love to have some of that HP you are getting out of your bike...

Mine will mph a little more if it slightly spins at the the first 5ft of the launch but if it spins after the 20ft it kills the mph. I think it has to do with charging up rpms and increased wheel inertia when wheel spinning. Either way et is no good...just mph.

Smokin your wish for an 2mph increase is about right since Jesses ran 123mph in Georgia two weeks ago. His back half was 32mph from the numbers he ran in Valdosta... Now he's likely to pull 157-158mph in the 1320.... Thats moving. I wish I could get 30mph on the back half. More like 28-29 in this area....

His bike is making damn good power. The thing Im happy to see and Bryan S. said it.. Is that the 06-07 ZX14 make the same power as the newer ones. I'm real tempted to tear mine down this season to do some of the same things your doing to Jesse's. Just gotta do some more lurking and find the right combo...

Keep at it......
