anybody using the power commander for their fuel kill?

At one point I had a quick shifter, but I sold it before I ever installed it. I've heard that you can use the pcIII as a air shifter fuel kill, so I wouldn't even have to buy a mps/cycle tek box. Is anybody using a pcIII with quickshifter software to do their fuel cutting duties?

We did this on my brothers bike and it worked well but I can't remember which port we ran the wire from on the back of the pc3. He ran the bike for two years and never had a problem with it.

So all I need is the software? Or do I need to get another harness/wire?

bump..... what kind of solinoid did you use?

I'm trying to make an air shifter cheap.....

So..........

If I want to use this with a 3.5oz co2 bottle, what parts do I need. I would prefer to not hack my harness. Can I use the mps or cycle tek harness and then just solder it to the 9v pciii connection? Should I just buy the mps or cycle tek kits minus bottle and box? I want to do this as easy and cheap as possible. Thanks for any help........ I'm what you call electronics illiterate.

You are going to need a regulator assembly for the bottle. I don't know where to get one, other than what Cycle-Tek sells.

Why don't you contact Matt at Cycle-Tek? Tell him you are on a budget and that you want to use your own kill setup. See what kind of advice/deal he offers you. Matt is a great guy, and a straight shooter.

for the 3.5oz bottle you will need a regulator
http://www.spencercycle.com/product_p/sp-2900.htm

one of these
http://www.spencercycle.com/product_p/sp-h304.htm

the correct cga fitting, some line and a ram. only wiring i "hacked" was for the horn button, which can be un-done easy.

edit: n/m

So here's what I'm thinking for costs.....

3.5oz bottle........................................$20
regulator............................................$80
airshifter switch valve......................$45
line and fittings.................................$30
ram......................................................$45
orient express airshifter mount.....$40

anything else?

I suggest doing it the hard way and saving the $89.

Well the cycle tek kit is $425 shipped.

My calculations say I can do it this way for $260

Savings: $165

More power to you, man!

You could get everything but the kill for probably $335 or less (from Cycle-Tek)...and the support. But that's your call!

I paid $220 for my air shifter kit, minus the bottle. It's the "old style" air kill shifter. In 2 years it's NEVER missed a shift!!

Damn Dusty, word travels fast but I would have to debate the selfish part.

BTW Gilbjj...............I think you saved enough on your extensions to buy a nice airshifter kit.

it's either be cheap or don't have it at all. I personally don't care for people that put multiple thousands of dollars into their bike and talk shit to the guys that do no have the money to do that with.

Trust me, if I had the money to buy a $800 muzzy shifter I would have it! But I don't. Also, why the fuck spend a extra $500 for a shifter like that when mine works every single time????

You definitely hooked me up on the extensions!

I'm not saying that cycle tek or mps isn't good, it's just not as good of a deal as using the pciii. Time will tell what I will do.... I have to still get a trailer.

My regulator came from palmer-pursuit.com. I used it going on 4 years now with zero problems. You also might be able to get the 3.5oz bottles from them too.
