you referring to an ignition advancer? thats a toss up: more advance helps in lower gears/rpms (better 60' drag racing times) but in the higher gears// higher rpms after the launch its been proven to lose mph in a 1/4 mile race. IMO stock is best.

The ignition module is obviously a much better option than the advance plate because with the ignition module you advance or retard where and when you like by creating a graph on the software.

Like this you can for example advance your ignition timing in the mid range and leave the top end stock or even retard it a bit.

Advancing the ignition will probably not actually improve your bhp but it will definately improve your bottom end and mid range torque figures. It will also give better throttle response.

On good pump fuel I wouldnt go for more than 2 or 3 degrees advance.

i have been thinking of the msd ignition, although i would not adjust the timing much, i do believe a hotter spark would help some...

BUMP:

I just picked up a dynojet ignition module. The main reason I got it was because I want some timing control when I put the turbo kit on my bike. However, are there any benefits of this ignition module now while I'm na? Does anyone have a map they want to send me? I don't remember Brock ever using an ignition module........

once you install the ign module, if you look Brock has some ign mapping
already done in some of his maps. Biggest thing you will need is to pull timing
under boost which the module wont know. An EFIR from schnitz with a
pressure switch would work best. Problem is they dont have them anymore
have to find one used.
