The work in progress
I promised to post a few pics of my bike and here they are- somewhat current.... these are maybe 1-2 months old.
I've lost the mirrors since and gotten a Speedcell battery,
and there's an Ohlins rear shock and a stock red 08 swingarm to be installed,
a few other thing here and there too- just have to find some time to get it done.
Some CF and a lot of Ti hardware- these are pics from the last time I attempted to clean her.
Never had a build thread here, but I think I've put more in mods than what I paid
for the bike otd in April 08. She's light and IMHO fast- for street duty only with just
a couple of track days in NH and NJ this year.

Thanks guys.
As I mentioned above- the bike is used for street riding
and I've focused a lot of attention on making it lighter and
capable of changing direction. Stock wheelbase with the rear
slightly raised by the 190/55.
I used all titanium hardware with the BST wheels and a smaller Galfer 220mm
rear brake disc with a gsxr rear brake caliper on a McIntosh 28mm axle.
The caliper is lighter and the rear brake line is very short. Brake and clutch
lines are Spiegler stainless.
Honestly I never noticed a difference with the ceramic wheel bearings,
just slightly easier to push the bike around the garage I guess.
Both front and rear brake pads are Vesrah and they are killer sharp in initial bite
with zero fade.
The bike is stripped of everything I deemed expendable for weight savings,
I might have referenced Shane's thread once or twice- anything from the passenger tail supports, frame/ tank rubber isolation, horn... and the list goes on.
I experienced some head shake when the bike was new coming down heavily from wheelies and got a GPR V4 damper.
The zx10 fender is OPP cf mounted on Lyle's brackets.
I've also bought quite a few other parts from him- my side stand comes to mind first.
An MSD 2-step among others...
The screen is Hotbodies and the fit was horrible but looks awesome on the 14 IMHO.
Pazzo short brake/ long clutch is the combo I went for and I like it a lot.
Vortex keyless gas cap- I broke a key in the oem at a gas station... don't ask
For the go fast besides the Brock's set up the bike also has the long Factory Pro Velocity stacks and Muzzy advancer. The usual reed block offs and Muzzy fan and off course the flies are out.
Currently undecided on a 42 or 43 rear Vortex but firmly set on the 16T Zephyr sprocket
as it's quite less noisy than the Vortex 16T I tried before.
I bought the Alien Head here in the Classifieds from someone who I spoke on the phone with and he actually sent it to me before recieving a payment last July... or June.
Bought the PC3 here as well-got it from Smokin.
I'm not going to elaborate over the rest of the little things here and there,
but looks have been my secondary objective. The 08 SE oem fairings are just an attempt to brake the habbit a little bit and just look a little bit different.
Experiencing what a set of BST wheels can do for your bike has been an eye opening experience for me as I have never experienced (previous bikes included) such a dramatic improvement in handling and the bike also feels as if it puts another 25 rwhp and turns as sharp as any liter bike... well, a liter bike on stock wheels that is.
My goal is to drop 100 lbs. from stock and I'm probably another 10 lbs. away from that according to my current calculations. Having some of the oem and aftermarket parts weighed by Shane has been of great help in that.

The big difference in the front is the zx10 fender- the stock white fender just looked huge.
The white lowers were always dirty and tough to clean where they attach behind the front tire and simply had to go. The red on the 08 SE is slightly darker than the red on the 07 SE, so the grills had to be swapped too. I also have the little wing that goes on the little bracket infront of the rear tire... looks good but adds weight, so it's sitting on a shelf somewhere.
The 08 SE seat cowl changes the looks of the tail a bit- all white just looked too porky.
Here's the red swingarm that will go on the bike... hopefully sometime soon with the Ohlins shock:

That's how qualifiers and pilot powers do their fronts. Think of it as.... distinctive.

I like those foot pegs. It adds a nice little touch.
Where did you get them?
How much shorter are they from OEM?
Easy install?
Any negatives about them?
PS
Do you ever get to Bike Night on Tuesdays in Lowell, Ma?
Usually a big crowd there. I go a couple times a year.

The foot pegs are Oberon- their race cut version.
They are not cheap but are the best out there IMHO.
It probably takes 10 min to replace them... if that... and no negatives at all.
The stockers are ugly, heavy and belong on a Harley.
The heel guards are Bestem cf

On the Pilot Powers topic... here's my previous front on the zx6/ zx10 rim- same opposite facing threads... the 2CTs are just awesome for the street.
The zx10 front wheel is a great and cheap way to sharpen the steering on the 14,
just has to be the 08-09 and not a previous year...

Here are my rears- I'm a huge fan of the 190/ 55... sorry for the bad pic quality....
The BST and gsxr1000 wheels:

Another thing to concider even at stock height is replacing the oem side stand.
The stocker is a boat anchor...
This is the SpencerCycle adjustable I bought from Lyle last year... for $25 shipped
Shane has some weight measurements in his thread on this same side stand

Stan,
The bike looks awesome.
BTW, the only reason I gave it away like that is because I was in the middle of moving, and it took a few months to get it shipped to him.
I felt really bad, and don't do business that way in normal circumstances.

Thanks Lyle.
BTW that zx10 with the BSTs is just a "point and shoot" weapon... I put around 50 miles on it last night when we swapped bikes. I still saw my 14 slowly walk away from me in a couple of roll- ons with the front up in the air through 3rd gear and the pipe absolutely screaming... loved it even more!

Yeah, I can't say I would want the front any lighter (BST) on the 08 ZX10 than it is, I had the thing wheelie on me at speeds up to 150 MPH!
..... and is unstable compared to the 14 already.
It was at times a scary little bitch.

The 08 SE fairing accents... the little red tail insert.
I also have the cover that goes infront of the tank in the 08 flat black and switch it around from time to time... can't find any pics with it mounted though.

I also want to remind the 06-07 owners of the fact that the pastic air filter cover is known to warp and allow unfiltered air in. The 08-09 bikes have an aluminum cover that I switched to and it's a direct swap. It's a cheap $20 insurance.
BTW I use a BMC race filter and looked at it recently and it didn't look too bad- some dirt and few bug bits and pieces. Easy and quick to clean.
