Cops on Busa's?!
So I know this guy.... Who rode to Galveston TX today on his zx14. On his way back towards
Houston on 45 he was going better than 100mph when he saw a Cop on a BUSA! A new one at that! He was very lucky to have been on the other side of the median and got away without a ticket or a chase...

We have cops on Busa's here. the good thing is they are their personal vehicles. It sure does make you panic when you see a cop in full uniform riding a turbo busa .... on his way into work!

I think the C14 would make a great police bike...the Busa would get a little uncomfortable after a day of patrolling! Ouch!

I think the Dickinson police have the Busa. That guy supposedly rides wheelies on that bike.

dont you guys remember a year ago it was posted on this actual website about cops on busa's? The first was Arizona, with Texas also in talks. Guess they got them in Texas now, too!
They also made every cop take some big name racing class that lasted one whole week before giving them the bikes. Not all the motor cops passed the course, either.

BMW's yes here in Cal. In most law enforcement sectors. CHP, city police, heck, even the Sheriff's dept. (my neighbor is one of them). Not heard about any Busas though.

Its real, It was hard for me to beleive it, and I was looking right at him and him at me. With the side bags and all the extra weight I think it would slow them down a bit, but still if he knows how to ride it to the limit, I dont see how you could get away.

Yeah man! I was shocked when I saw a couple of Oklahoma state trooper Busas at Thunder Valley raceway last year ! The bikes were seized from dug busts I believe!!!!

Over the winter I went to a Motorcyle Convention here in Spokane. The WSP had their bikes on display. I think I spent more time chatting with the State Patrol Motorcyle Officers than anyone else. They were really cool. I asked them if they minded that guys like wave at them riding their bikes when I'm on mine. The one officer said that he waves to most bike riders, but others frown at the idea...
Anyway, I asked what they thought of the ZX14 and did they think they had a chance to catch one. They assured me they didn't stand a chance against one. So I asked them why they aren't on the Concours with the ZX14 engine and they said that they would really love that bike and have talked about it. Don't know the weight of the conversation, but I think that would be the best bike for one of those guys.

An interesting thread. Where I live in the UK the local cops have the usual ubiquitous BMW's but they also have a big Harley-D which turns up at all the meets and bike shows, good for PR apparently as it gets people talking.
They have stopped using Honda ST1300's because of a stability issue, it's alleged the bikes have had a problem with weaving at high speed, possibly due to the way they are loaded with all the police equipment. Anyway, I don't know of any in use here right now.
