Turbo spark plug gap and changing time
What gap are you turbo folks running your plugs at and
how long would you say it takes, average, to pull them and throw them back in?
gracias...

15 minutes, use factory tool in tool kit
.20 gap
CR10EK... one colder than stock with dual electrodes....Same as Bob...
BTW
I stand corrected, Bob has been pulling 6 degree's time, at 5 or more PSI

I meant dual ground straps ... one electrode...
I ran them in my bike with the 50 shot on pump and never had to pull timing... although I think the shitty winter fuel ( october) almost got me the last time I had it out...
It began to detonate, so i shut it off.
When I pulled the plugs they has very miniscule aluminum specs...
Everything looked good when I pulled the motor apart for turbo build... it must have just gotten on the ragged edge.
winter spring and fall, ya gotta be real careful cause they dilute the shit out of the fuel with butane which lowers the octane and flash pt of the fuel drastically.

Use a allen socket in cordless drill for plastic hardware....
Unplug all the coils, pull the air injection harness out of the way,.... mine is long gone
Use the stock spark plug socket.... put electrical grease in boots, spray wd 40 in spark plug wells after new plugs are in, so coils slip in nice

Oh , and contrary to the manual, especially on rich tuned turbo or Nitrous maps, I found an appreciable increase on power, throttle response, and smoother idle after changing plugs at 6000 miles.
High combustion pressures / temps are hard on plugs
I think a while ago smokin lee had also posted about the nice change in power after changing his too.
You won't notice them going away cause its so gradual, but if you let them go , you will notice a change when they are replaced.

Mine are OEm .030'. Bike seems to run great as far as I can tell.
Do you think re-gapping to 035 or 020 really makes a difference in how the turbo setup will 'feel'?
and
ZXBob, you have an ATP setup, what gap are you using, please?

Tightening the gap will help prevent flame out, it won't hurt anything, but is added insurance to prevent hurting anything.
I would definately not widen the gap!

I just ordered these plugs. My turbo will be on e85, should I have ordered the stock plug because e85 burns so cold?

I ran stock plugs on my bike the ones that came from factory I never checked the gap on em but I think I'm going to a one step hotter plug on this motor. E85 is hard to light and the bike ran so damn cold.

I run one range colder and have them gapped at .022" on my turbo ZRX. I had problems at .035", don't know if it was flame blow-out or not but it runs better with the gap closed.
