09's vs. Previous yrs?

I just dont know about all this talk about the 09 being as ive heard on here "slamming" the previous yr models......

My good friend got him a 09 candy green..... has the EXACT same mods i do, pipe, gear, velocity stacks, flies out, and his has muzzy time advance..... i smoked him all day long..... he is a veteran rider, been riding a while, so he isnt a newb by far..... from 2nd gear roll on and 3rd gear roll ons i was beating him by 8 bikes and still pulling....even letting him leave first...granted he is 240 and im 200lbs..... would it make that much of a difference?? i mean i walked from him, not just inching away......i mean i just want a lil old school credit here lol

we did trade....... lol.....and i beat him on mine with his by a couple bikes, BUT i asked him wtf was he trying and he said he didnt ride it hard cuz he dont wanna dog out other ppls shit and that he wanted for me to see if i felt a diff in his and mine he did say mine felt alot more snappy and tourqier than his. So i never got a true race out of him with him on mine....but i mean i rode his 09 and cant say if it felt any diff... it dont feel like it pulled as hard as mine though. maybe he got a "built on friday" bike????

I rode an '09 with similar mods as mine as well. We both have Brock pipes and maps,BMC filters ( he also has a timing advancer@4degrees and I don't ) same gearing and I weigh 5lbs more than him. Although we haven't got his to the track yet, mine pulls him every time we've hit. He got on mine and it took him to 4th gear but he ran me back down from a 2nd gear roll-on. I'm not sure if the advancer is helping or hurt but we are putting the stock one back on today and see if there's any difference.

U guys do know that the 14s timing is retarded from 1st to 4th gear and advanced on 5th and 6th, so u are probably killing your top end with to much advance.

Isnt the 08-09 advanced 2 degrees from the 06-07 anyway? Try advancing only 2 degrees.

Since i have both a 2006 and a 2009 zx14 my 09 pulls a bit harder .... My 06 with a Brocks Smeg and race map ,flys out , 16 tooth i would Avg 6.05 @ 122 in the 1/8 mile ... My 09 with just a Brocks Smeg , NO P/C ,flys in place , stock gears 6.10 @ 122 .. Both bikes at stock wheel base but the 06 has the axle is about a 1/2 inch back from the 09 because of the 16 tooth..

I feel if the bikes had the same mods the 09 would be just a tad faster , also keep in mind my 06 is well broke in while my 09 has just 350 miles on it ...We all know the zx14 picks up a good bit of HP when you hit 1000 miles or so ..

I could be wrong but it seems to be a fare test , same rider same tracks and same air ..

I should add my 06 with the 16 tooth and extra bit of wheel base the 60 foot times are low 1.50s while the 09 are low 1.60s with the best of a 1.57 ..You can do the math ...

smokey you know et don't prove power ...and the 16 tooth sprocket will kill some mph vs the 17 tooth ...

i may be wrong but it seems everytime we change to smaller front sprocket we lose some mph at the dragstrip...

hmmmm thats odd.... yea smokin i agree with u as far as same rider being "fair" but i do have to say that me being ahead 8-10 bikes and still pulling 4 times in a row is not any error, the advancer may be hurting his as well as his weight i dont know...I just know i have a damn fast bike, or so i think its fast as compared to the people around here, thats why he wanted the same shit (mods) that i have, i have not lost a single race yet against 08-09 busas, 1ks (every make) and 3 other 14s, i do not however have any numbers as i race on the street but i can say i can ride a lil bit lol, i was runnin 10.0s on my bone stock, muzzy piped 1998 zx9, stock wheelbase, the first time i ever took it to the track and trust me i slept at the light, just wasnt used to the shit at all... it was like a 1.78 or some shit lol.... first time i ever lined up at the tree........ after i talked to him again he does not have the 43 rear, its stock but did go down one in the front just havent put the rear on yet, i though he did. i dont know honestly how to make it more scientifically correct or whatever this is real world tests real world results no 2 variables will ever be the same in these situations....ima get to the track as soon as weather permits and rack opens here in memphis and try to get u fellas some slips.... of course after i learn that damn tree lol

I was looking at the MPH NOT the ET ... My 06 picked up MPH with the 16 tooth , Jesses zx14 picked up MPH with a 16 tooth , Tommys 06 zx14 picked up MPH with a 16 tooth .. Must have something to do with the riders ..

I really think in your case it rider.. Sure some bikes will make more HP than others and that could be why you pasted him so bad ..Could be a little bit of both ( rider skills and Bike hp )
I had a roll on race with a 07 Brocked out zx14 and the guy may have been 20 to 25 pounds heavier than me on my stone stock 09 zx14 and i covered him with ease ..One would think a piped and tuned and geared bike would have won that race over a stocker but that not what happened ...The guy looked to be a good rider because i was watching him that earlier that night taking out a few people with no problems .. To really answer that question you should take both of them to the track and ride both of them...The trap MPH should tell the story ..

Kawboy dont under estimate the 40 lbs you spoke of. 40 lbs is huge with riders of equal
skill. I scale about 160 and against buddys in the 200 range on equal bikes I normally
pull out 6-8 bikes.

My 06 has gone 5.62 @ 128 in the 1/8 mile on motor so you think cause it was faster than my 09 at 6.10 @ 122 is should be slower than 122 MPH .. your way of thinking if it's faster MPH should be less ...Well in that case my 5.62 pass should have been 5.62 @ 109 because it took less time ..Or my stock 09 in the 1/4 mile taking much longer to get to the end of the track than my 06 so i should run 160 MPH...Any time i have gone faster ( ET) i have allways gone more MPH.. I guess john force running 4.70s should only run 97 MPH and not 320 because he took less time ..

ok try that on a LSR event run it like you would a 1/4 mile see what happens ... its not MY WAY OF THINKING its what i've been told by dragracers ... kinda like deep staging and short ......if you want to be a smart ass ..you know i can be a bigger ass than you ...

on that 4.70 i don't think it has anything to do with 2,000.000 hp .. but thats a perfect example all the cars are set-up the same ...so why the hell the differant mph's from 1 to the other ...i know its all driver ...whatever

just reading it seem like you was ...my bad.. i'm just asking a question here .. i got some friends that was putting this across the brain last week... Super Sport class we know this 1 person that runs that class 125lb rider.. ok 60@1.65 ..et 9.10's- 9.20's @160+mph at 600ft elev.. .. this on a 18 tooth front .. stock length stock parts you know the rules 1k gsxr..

now ive got freinds that run moded bikes and can't put that mph down with same or quicker 60fts ...BEST 1 is running 3mil kit 61 inches 1.50's 60's @ 9.10's @157mph 145lb rider same kind bike ..16 tooth front...

now how is that being done on a basic stock bike which is what that super sport bike is

rags have that bike running 9.70's ..
