me against a shameful rider on another zx14 a while back
lol... the title says it all. This guy was horrible and wouldn't let us help him at all so his times reflected it. I guess that E-8's in the marines don't need to listen to anyone.

learning is fun, and creates community and skill. Ego causes loss of money, time, and energy.

no... he was trying really hard to figure it out. He almost looped it a few times that day. I believe that he ended up selling the bike because it "wouldn't run right". He made about 3 trips to the track like that and gave up. Haven't seen him since lol

It's called "I wanted to get another bike and now that I am older I can now afford the fastest bike made" followed by "I had to sell it, I was gonna kill myself on that thing" which means it scared the crap out of him and he never could handle it. Seen it too many times to count.

Seems to me a lot of people never really "learn" how to actually ride and control their motorcycle. I see lots of people who can't even park their bike let alone perform an evasive maneuver.

I have a cousin like that, he has a 08 Silver 14, with every mod i have, and cant break in the 6's in the 1/8th, he only weighs 195lbs and his bike has been tuned 3 times, his problem is himself. He will run 2 times and quit and give up. I told him to hot lap it, thats the only way to learn, just make sure it doesnt run hot.....lol.

That will SO BE ME my first time! Only difference is I will take the advice of all the seasoned riders I meet there. It is SO wasteful for someone that slow and that inexperienced to not take advantage of all the free advice one could get. What is he thinking? He can't believe that he thinks himself a threat and that his competitors are going to try to make him do things wrong. HA HA!

My first run down a track EVER was on my 14. I wheelied pretty much the entire track and went a 7.40 eeking by my dad's stock M109R at the veeeeeeery end lol. It took me two more runs to get into the 6's and I've stayed there ever since unless I spin really bad... then I just put down the track in first gear. I think that it both helped and hurt me that I sand dragged all through highschool and grew up at the dragstrip. I pretty much ran before I crawled and had very high expectations for myself since I had raced on a national level and was really good. I figured out really fast that bikes are a completely different animal all together and that I was in for a challenge. It's definitely the most fun I've ever had though and having some of my best friends out there racing with me makes it even better. There are some great brains to pick at my track, from my friends vince and wayne, to russ collins jr. I learn something everytime that I go.

Same here bawls, first time ever down a REAL track was in July with my 14. All those 'ghetto tree" runs didn't mean a thing, my heart was pounding. Loved it. I, too, have been lucky enough to be in an area that has lots of very knowledgeable people, such as Johnny Cheese and his gang, Rich (Halvefast), and my buddy Darrell who is on me all the time, particularly when I get frustrated with myself. (He just ran an 8.77 on motor by the way) Then, of course there is this forum, where I have posted many vids and folks don't seem to mind giving a little helpful advice. Damn, bawls, I think I'm going to have to go run again on Wednesday. Supposed to be 62ish.
