Quickest pass to date....

Finished off a can of MR9 this past Friday night, and went my quickest pass ever, 8.826 @ 151.46 MPH. Ended up winning the all-run gambler's race vs. a Super Pro (electronics) car, and also was runner up in the motorcycle trophy race.
Here's the time slip, but may be hard to see...

Then on Saturday, went back to 87 pump gas. After I lost out, I put a friend of mine on my bike to make a hit. He weighs 165 unsuited. He blasted an 8.801 @ 154.99, with a 1.340 60', and 127.22 MPH in the 1/8th. Here's the time slip....

And then I let another friend make a hit, that weighs about the same (165-170) and owns a ZX-14 as well. He didn't launch quite as hard, but what amazed me was the MPH the bike cranked out....128.59 1/8th, and 155.08 in the 1/4, on 87 pump gas. Here's the time slip....

The bike is 2 years old, and has about 800 or more passes. Still never adjusted the valves or anything else in the engine, only changed clutches and spark plugs so far.

Launching at 4000 Bill. That 180-55 Michelin is getting it done.

I don't ride on the street. I have 2800 miles too, but 2300 of them are going down the track and in the pits.

I only change them about once a year, which I know I should be doing it more often with the type of abuse I put the bike through.

Ninjaboy what wheel base is that bike sitting at? I have been chasing my 8's all this year and never quite made it. The pilot power took a crap on me and i never could get it to hook, but not because it was wore out but it just got old and started to dry up. I had it for over a year and a half and loved it. I had horrible 60's 1.61-1.67 spinning, but still pulled 151-152 out the back door at the end of this year. This was with u4 and some cold weather....hopefully come spring with a fresh tire and clutch i can get my low 1.4'-1.3's back and run those numbers...good job, keep giving that bike hell.

Thanks.
Bike is at 69", 16-44 gearing. Is that Michelin you had the Power Race 'soft'?

yup...had it over a year and a half and about 200-250 pass's. It started dry cracking at the end of the year...you know where you rub your hand over it after a burnout and instead of being hot and sticky it's hot and feels like sand paper. I also have the same gearing but i'm at 651/2. I ordered my arm a little long and can't go any shorter.
I could run 22-25 psi in that tire when it was new with no problems.

I have a Michelin Pilot 120-60 on front. Its a pretty hard tire. You don't want a soft tire on front, it will slow you down.

I'm headed to the track tomorrow and I have a wheel with a power race soft 180, and my Shinko 190 U-soft. The big variable tomorrow morning is that the temp will be about 40 degrees or less at the track!

If I can get a few 9.3's on the Shinko, then I will give the Michelin a try. I don't have a bigger sprocket, so I will be losing a little gear with it.

Maybe....but you'll be surprised. My buddy put a Michelin 180-55 on his ZX-12 this Saturday (had a 190-50 Shinko U-soft), and first pass out had a 1.37 60' and went 8.97 on MR9. he hadn't changed any gearing or shock settings, just swapped tires.

I have a rebuilt stock shock from Litz. It's re-valved and re-sprung according to my weight, swingarm length, and horsepower, and I had them shorten it by 1".

Its set at where they set it in their shop, didn't have to touch anything.

looks like they have a 101 octane i would try, my guess is its similar to MRX01 since its a oxy fuel. They have a interesting article on dyno results

http://www.xxxracingfuel.com/?p=23

P.S am curious what it cost to have the shock done if you don't mind
