Im not sure if the new injectors flow more, but reading the features of the 08 they say that the injectors have a wider spray pattern for better atomization

So does that mean that you have to change the injectors too?

One of you should just buy the external pump, regulator and fuel pump plate I have.
The stocker is regulated to ~40 PSI, although some have home brewed them to make a bit more.
I have an adjustable aeromotove regulator ( non boost reference for NA bikes) a boost referenced regulator, a pupm plate, walbro pump, (same as muzzy and atp turbo kits) and a modified fuel rail with enlarged an6 fittings, and a return port (can be blocked off if you wish).

Hummm no sump to collect all the trash and clog up the pump, i have seen several pumps that have clogged from using pumpgas or racing fuel, to my personal 06 nos zx14 dragbike and my 07 streetbike zx14, and both have only used Sunoco pumpgas, how that stuff gets in there is a mistery when only using pumpgas from a clean container and a Sunoco station ,if anyone has an 08/09 manual it should give psi at idle and peak duty cycle, and fuel rail and injector flow, and compare it to the 06/07 specs, that should answer most questions, just my 2ct.

Until you do something with that fuel line you only gained 1/2 inch before contact.
Maybe 1/2 inch is enough considering where it's located.

Bump. Any further developments on this? I am curious as to whether fuel pressure/mapping will be affected on the 06-07's.

I did it on my 07, got the pump off of Ebay. I did it so I could lower the bike. I saw no negative impact. It was plug and play. My bike ran the exact same numbers with both pumps. All I wanted was the extra clearance anyway. It is a perfect fit

The 06-07 fuel pump, pumps more fuel than the 08 according to the manual and atoms performance. The 06-07 injectors are supposed to be 440cc with 10 spray holes. the 08-09 injectors are supposed to be 350cc with 12 spray holes they spray a bigger pattern but the injectors are not supposed to be as big. I was also told the newer ones were bigger injectors but according to Jim at CNC and RG the older ones are bigger. And the older pump pumps more fuel and that is according to the manual.

On the dyno, the A/f was flat with the '08 pump on an '06 bike. Using a standard Brock's race map, and even O/S TB's. So it must be pretty close.

I would think the pump pressures would be about the same, problem in the 40~43 psi range where you would notice the difference is when the injectors are locked wide open the 08 Pump might not stay up. but you would probably need more than 270 hp to reach that pont

And then you could squash the regulator to get more...

I believe that's right I've not seen a 08 pump on the inside, there was a guy that posted a thread here in 07 or around that time and he had pictures of how to smash the pump regulator and the type of socket to do it with and how much to crush it. I just can't find that thread.

I dont think crushing the regulator will flow any more fuel. It will raise the pressure of the fuel system that can already keep up with the injectors.

Crushing the regulator is a very common mod and it does reduce injector duty cycle. Perhaps I am not explaning it well, but basically an injector will act like a larger injector once once the pressure is increased.

This comes in handy when you are at high duty cycle, from adding nitrous and such. Very common mod.
