Stupid Salesmen

Was riding by a combination marina/motorcycle dealer and spotted a good looking Busa in the window. Went in to take a closer look and a saleman comes walking up. First thing he says is THIS IS THE FASTEST BIKE PRODUCED...IT RUNS 230 MPH. I about fell over then he tells me THE PREVIOUS OWNER RAN 7 SECOND QUARTER MILES WITH THIS BIKE. After listening to this joker I decided to have a little fun. It was a 2005 with Brock exhaust, shinko rear tire, lowered, stretched, etc. I asked him how many gears it had. He hesitated and then said..UMMM...EITHER 5 OR 6. Then I asked what make of rear tire is that? He bent over and read the side of the tire and then happily answered ITS A SHINKO ! I asked him how many ccs it was and he said 1300. I then asked does it have a TRE ? He actually answered with WHATS A TRE ?? Then to shut him up I told him that I had a ZX14 and it was so fast that is was scaring the crap outta me and I wanted something slower like a Hayabusa. That left him speechless..finally. How can these salesmen sell a product they know so little about ??

Anyway, it was a 2005, 7,000 miles and $9,000 plus tax...yikes !!! Nice looking bike in red and black.

Agreed here. i went to the "other" Kawi dealer closer to my house to get a tank pad for my new 09 Green ZX-14. I told the guy at the parts counter I wanted a carbon looking black/green tank pad to match the color fo my bike. He said "you got a black Zx-14?" and I said "No.

He said "You can't have the green because they have not come out yet.".

I said it sure looked Green to me, he just would not believe me. Needless to say that after I gave him the visual confirmation he needed (bike was in lot) I had 7+ salespeople and finance guys googling over it.

One of them asked ... "how in the heck did [the other shop] get you that bike so fast?"

I replied ... "Customer Service of course, which seems to be lacking here."

Yup, sometime the biggest idiots in the cycling community are the ones on the sales floor.

I'm glad to say all the sales people at my local dealer are riders and know what they're talking about. I don't think they would last long if they used that BS to sell a bike.

I have had great luck up here in Wisconsin at Team Winnebagoland. Very good people and lots of frills you just don't find other places. Finding a good dealer is worth his weight in gold.

+1 and here the bike sales are up because of higher gas, and they are using laid of used car salesman to sell bikes. asking them a simple question is a joke

the long time knowledgeable professional bike salesman is getting to be a rare breed. i do so much homework before i go bike shopping that i usually know more than the folks selling the bike.

+1 when people buy a bike they most likely have other means of transportation and its more of a hobby to ride people tend to know about there hobbies before they make a investment like a 10-13 thousand dollar bike

when I got my o6 I went to the other kawasaki dealer and asked them when the zx1400 was coming out they told me maybe another month and nobody here in upstate new york had one as they were not released from the warehouse....blah blah blah. I then asked him to look out in the parking lot and look at my red o6 zx 1400. these people will tell you anything and dont even know there products the salesman looked out the window and saw my bike but would not say nice bike or anything after making a fool of him self
