exhaust gaskets
Just got my new yosh full system today and the directions the way i under stand them say to not use the exhaust gaskets???!! Thought that was kind of wierd but hey i dont design this stuff just work on it. Was looking for some input from you guys. Have you ever heard of such a thing as not using gaskets? Wont the exhaust leak like a bear? Just wondering. If i should use gaskets should i re-use the stock one's or get new? Thanks -wrench-

I had roughly 700 miles on ZX-14 and two of the exhaust gaskets did not reseal properly.
Try it and get lucky.

They obviously typoed it and meant "do not re-use exhaust gaskets". Alot of guys here have reused the stockers, some multiple times. I bought new ones so I wouldnt have to worry about it. I think it was $8 or so.. cheaper than the hour or two to take the exhaust back off and fix a leak!
FYI: when installing new gaskets, use just a touch of high temp RTV to hold them in place. Only takes a little bit!

They were said to be in short supply too since the recalls for frame inspection resulted in lots of strip-downs which used up the stocks in dealers.

my son got the yosh system on his '08. it clearly says you do not use gaskets. He did not use gaskets and has no leaks.

Is that the full Yosh or slip-on's?
You can also pull the headers off and swap in new ones without even seeing the gaskets in the exhaust ports unless you look for them. Did he physicaly remove the gaskets?

well so everyone knows, I have the Full Yosh TRC Titanium system, it clearly says to remove the exhaust gaskets they will not be used. I questioned this because being a mechanic no gasket means leak......or so i thought. I called Yosh tech team today and they said no mistake do not us any exhaust gasket. Run bike threw a couple of heat cycles and re torque and you are good to go. So.....i put the system on ran it...... checked torque than went on another ride and ill be damn no leaks!!? Kind of crazy but there was no mis print.....no gaskets........
