16T Sprocket....Issues?
I'm getting ready to install the 16T countershaft sprocket this weekend. But I've seen some people apparently have "issues" with chain slap, or similar. Is this a guaranteed problem with the 16T? If so, I have plenty of room to go up on the back...just looking for some input, particularly from those who drag race.

i have been using a 16t for 3000 miles,, no problem,,,it does whurr because it doesnt have the vulcanized rubber on it,,

Over 600 drag strip passes with 16T with no issues.

I put an OEM 16t with the rubber damper on mine Shane and it works great.

Never had any issues with mine...............I know Lietoome went back to the 17 tooth after he stretched it and i think it was because of chain slap.......but not positive..........i know he also wanted max wheelbase and wanted to use the dampened sprocket.

I think you'll like the 16 tooth Shane..........if not just go with 17/45 or 17/46 instead.

My 16T does make a noticeable whurr. I am thinking of putting the 17T back because the rubberized damper does makes a big difference in noise. I will then put a bigger rear sprocket 17-44. I think you should do the same...

Dan, I have not heard of a 16T OEM or aftermarket sprocket with the rubberized damper for the ZX-14. Here did you buy that?

I like the 17/45 combo. For me, the 16t felt like it spun up way too fast. It did make some noise, so I also went back to the dampened sprocket. The gearing is relatively the same, I just like the bigger rear sprocket. My 16t rubbed on my Velocity Arm, but not on the stock swingarm.

Which bike did the OEM 16T with rubber dampner come off of???

As usual Rick is correct!
The sprocket from the '92-'94 Zephyr (ZR1100) is the one. Part # 13144-1317.

Off topic, but the Zephyr would have had a much bigger following with a better name. What was the logic, "Let's build a bike that evokes the memory of the fearsome Z1...and call it.......the Zephyr."?
