damn right those are good numbers.

As for the map, Brocks map(2006) was actually too fat on the bottom because of my elevation. Brock's maps are the best you can get for a 'one-size fits all'. For your elevation and all other variables, you gotta get it tuned. My tuner adjusted the bottom, but didn't touch the mid/high on Brocks map because it was spot on.

"o'kay up top"? compared to what? 179/105 sounds a bit better than O'k to me.

I remember back in the day HarryZX12 getting 179hp out of his Green 2000 ZX12 with an Akrapovic pipe...I think ZX12Girl's Red 12 had 181hp also with an Akrapovic...

as you have already been told!

I agree with motomans break in too!
Thats exactly how I broke mine in!
100 miles of full throttle, mid rpm, top gear roll ons, no engine decel, and 3 heat cycles.
It will loosen up, and the gearbox will wear in around the 2000 mile mark!

16 /43 good for wheelies, but found I was shifting allot,
I still prefer 16/41 or even better 17/44!

dubious,, thats sounds just right,,17/44 =2.59,,just a tad lower then 16/41=2.56,,but taller then 16/43=2.69,,that seems just right,,when i need a chain,,i will do 17/44,,that way i can run the stock sprocket with the vulcanized rubber so there is no whurr

OK, all this sprocket chatter is driving me nuts. LOL! I think I'm going to go with 16/41. Just leave the rear sprocket for now. Does this make a big enough difference, but still good for everyday riding? Also, going to get the Brocks radial mount tie downs and rear lowering links 3 hole. So does everyone trailer there bikes to the track when temporarily set lowered?

Smokehouse, you will LOVE 16/41, 16/42 or 17/45 they are great for the dragstrip and in town stop light to stoplight and still cruise nice without being too buzzy or busy on the highway..............I went 16/42 about 3 weeks after i bought the bike and would NEVER go back...............it still cruises nice at 90 mph on the highway and it is much more snappy and easier to launch............

give us your weight and launching technique and we'll help you select a good ratio but bottom line you cant go wrong with 16/41 or 16/42 and it should only cost you like $20-$30 to get a 16 tooth and trust me its WELL worth the money............plus gearing down will make your clutch last longer if you go to the dragstrip.

getting a 16 tooth for like $20-$30 is a good way to get your toes wet and decide what gearing is right for you................but like Dubious said if your gonna stretch it or buy a new chain you might wanna give 17/44=2.59, 17/45=2.65, or 18/47=2.61 a try as well as they are great all purpose ratios for the 14.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It will be quite some time IF I ever stretch it. May or may not. So I think I'll get my feet wet with the Vortex 16. And SmoothG, hopefully in the next couple of months I will get the Brocks Smeg and PCIII. 179 would sound mighty fine, along with 30lbs less weight. By the way, I've heard a Muzzy system, how does that Brock smeg compare in tone/ loudness with the Muzzy?

SmoothG, I forgot to ask, how much difference did you notice with the flies out? I've heard many say to just leave them in on the 08's. (Atomic Silver '08)

Yeah I hear ya it really sucks that we dont get 60's or 330's or 1/8 times at our track, hell 80% of the times i've been there they dont even time your 1/4 mile period............our track is so ghetto, and the traction sucks..........but i guess its better than nothin!

this is what i found i weight 185 unsuited, i tried going to 16 tooth front sprocket and i did nothing but whilies down the track, it was difficult get anything better then 1.7 60ft, which some consider somwhat decent just not me. I went back to 17T front and first night out on 5th pass i pulled a 1.57 60 and a handfull of low 1.6s. The following week i managed a 1.55. I got the bike retuned and its like somone put a 16T front sprocket back on, i had to order a 40T rear so far still getting used to new power but first trip out ran a 1.5860ft. So my advice is if youre heavy over 220lbs unsuited sure go with the 16t front sprocket if not i suggest you leave it alone and try how that works for ya.
