I'm not seeing any info on removing the left side front brake. Do you have to get a custom brake line for that?

No, just used the springs...and no rtv, either.

I bought a standard 2-line kit.

Why does everyone run with a rear brake for drag racing? Is it necessary or required? I was thinking it may be required due to a backup if you're front brake doesn't work, but if you think about it, my rear brake is hardly effective when used alone. I've heard that rear brakes only do 30% of the braking (which I believe is optimistic at best), and on a stretched and lowered bike, I bet it's much less. I wonder if you could just make a spacer and get rid of the entire rear brake.

That's your call...
Where I race in LSR you must have one. You see plenty of dedicated drag bikes without them...maybe you just aren't looking hard enough?

That's what I did. I just never used it so I got rid of it....

After having some clearance issues at the track, and in the quest to get the most out the bike that I can, I ordered a new exhaust system, a Brock's CT:

This pipe is really gorgeous. The exhaust spigots are high flow, and solid machined pieces. And, as you can see, the welds are very smooth. Even with the stout exhaust spigots, the header assembly is a little over 1.5 lbs. lighter than the stainless Brock's header used in the Shortmeg system. I am using just the header and possibly midpipe, as I will be having a custom muffler constructed and some additional bungs welded into the exhaust. I am going to try to get it test-fit this weekend, to see how much ground clearance is improved with this design.
Otherwise, it could be a few weeks or so before the system is put into use (I'd like to get back to the track before making any major changes). When it is completed I will likely be selling my Shortmeg system (but not the Carbon Megaphone!).

Nice pipe Shane. Can't wait to see what your bottom clearance turns out to be. I just got the Clems pan at home, Now I think my Muzzy header will be the lowest thing to the ground now.

Removed the Brock's Shortmeg header today, to compare to the Brock's CT.
Note the height of the primary tubes....definitely more clearance with CT:

As you can see, the bends of the exhaust are very similar. This indicates to me that Brock did not want to mess too much with a good thing. We already know the pipes make great power, so that is understandable.
Next I measured the exhaust spigots for both and the pipe ID for the new CT:
First, the Shortmeg header spigots:

Next the CT header spigot:

As you can see, the CT spigots are much larger. That is because the header pipes slide inside the spigot, instead of vice-versa. This eliminates any restriction.
In order for this to be useful, the CT header would have to be larger in ID than the standard spigots:

It is indeed about 2mm larger than the standard spigots. So, these new CT spigots will definitely remove a restriction. I imagine that this would really benefit a ported head or larger motor to an even greater extent.
Just to compare clearance, here are a couple of photos. In this first photo, the box pictured will not slide under the Shortmeg header...even though it has been flattened already:

Here you can see that it easily clears the header pipe on the CT:

There appears to be more than 1/2" additional clearance on the lower rightmost tube. The leftmost lower tube is not as big as an issue since it is in the center of bike and not as subject to contact during leaning.
I have a lot more to do, but these are some of the basic characteristics of the exhaust.

It is very pretty! I think the best thing about titanium is the colors when they get used hard!

Yes, that would be great. I am really interested in seeing the clearance issues during leaning the bike to the right.

It works well for me because one of the local tracks has a left exit.

I have been looking through your build thread. Very good info. I currently run the Dbl Bubble windscreen on my bike, which I have been running the last couple of years and I noticed that when I get above 130, 140 mph the windscreen and the mirrors tend to shake violently, which it never did with the stock windscreen. I checked all the screws. Everythings tight. Have you noticed that with yours? I also noticed that the Dbl Bubble sits quite a bit higher than stock, which may explain why. This has to affect aero's. I'm 6'3. Don't kno if that makes a difference with which screen to go with. I love the look of the bubble but I feel there may be too much drag with it. I'm more into top end speed.

I never had any issues with my Zero Gravity double bubble. I ran it as fast as 190 officially timed mph at Maxton. I switched back to stock and that one has been run up to 211officially timed mph without issue.
If I were you I would check your fairing stay bolts (at the steering head) for tightness. You may also wish to check the stay for cracks.

System #3. But to be fair, I wouldn't have been looking to replace the Shortmeg if not for hitting that header tube. In fact, I am considering running it for the rest of the season....it is really a great exhaust. My bike is just slammed down pretty low in the front.
Besides, I've got a long way to go in order to keep up with Gilberjj!!

I accomplished a little more on my exhaust project. I needed to cut the midpipe so that I could fit a short megaphone muffler.
First, I ordered a new cutter from McMaster Carr:

Next, it's time to cut some expensive Ti. Unfortunately I have to cut away the O2 bung. This is going to create a pain later, but I had no choice due to it's location on the midpipe:

Voila!

I left the cut section a little long so that I can trim it to just the right size once I have the megaphone on hand:

I still have some details to work out on the muffler, but with any luck it will be ordered this week.

I thought you were running the megaphone from your short meg system. Are they not the same size?
