My ZX14 Dyno Results

Well I went to a local bike event and there was a mobile dyno on site and figured what the hell. Before I tell you the results, let me tell you whats done to the bike.

K&N Air filter,
Power commander 3,
Ignition module,
Muzzy M10 Full Exhaust,
Ivan's TRE

The bike is brutal fast, just took the secondaries out today and can't wait for the roads to dry and go try it out. Anyway gave the guy 25 bucks he strapped the bike down and made 2 passes

1st pass was 117 horsepower and a 144 foot pounds of torque
2nd pass was 124 horsepower and a 148 ft pound of torque

told the guy no way I should be damn close to 200 horsepower. especially when it was a 42 degree night. I told him the RPM's went not set right the torque curve is usually at 5252 rmps and his graph looked nothing like that. He then told me that the dyno is a heart breaker and people always assume they have more then they do. I told him they have 174 stock and i had electronics and exhaust and the skin on my face pulled back on full throttle so i know it's running good. He gave me my money back and said something could be off somewhere. i told him yea, his crappy dyno and his 1987 looking laptop lol. He said F U I said blow me and parked my bike. I should have at least 190 horsepower at the wheel. I wanna say 200 but don't wanna stretch it. Now I don't trust dyno's and feel like im wasting enough cash for a fill up for some low dyno numbers thats just not possible. I smoke old and new busa's all the time. I'm also a busa owner. 2005 limited gun metal gray. On a high speed charged my 14 walks the busa by like 10 bike lenghts from a 60 to 170 mph race.

Guess what, roads are dry, so lets go play with no butterflies in. vroom vroom

Well the 148 ft lbs of TQ is off as well. on a legit Dyno you should be around 190 plus or minus alittle for hp and 112 to 115 for TQ.

Ummmmm -- just my .02 here...but the numbers are way way off...they sound exactly like the numbers from a Rocket III...BIG TQ and moderate HP....I think you got the wrong chart from him. I'd love to see a ZX14 with 148 LBS TQ with just those mods...fuck -- that bike wouldn't stay straight from all that wheelspin...

Bently's numbers are about right --

I get really bad wheel spin with the same mods and a 6 over...I can't imagine 148 RWHP...

Dubious told me tonight that he was spinning at 230 KMH in 5th with a 50 shot coming on at 7K...

BTW, You'd never see anything like 200 RWHP with that setup; not on pump gas and not SAE...190 would be awesome...so don't hold your breath for anything more than 190, unless you fuck with the Dyno to get it...LOL

"Blow me" was a good comeback!

If you took the fly's out, you should dump that POS TRE now...useless add on and you can get your GPS indicator back now.

That dyno was a joke! To gain 7 HP and 4lbs of torque between the 1st and 2nd pass was a joke also. That guy needs to find the nearest landfield for that dyno. I'd love to have 144/148 lbs of torque on my 14. That would be crazy scary but as "FastestBusaAround" stated, don't expect to see 200 RWHP with jus the mods you have, even 190 with the mods u have would be a stretch. You would need head work and maybe cams in addition to your other mods to see 200 at the rear wheel. Piston kit would put you well over 200.

sure it wasn't a dyno setup for harley's?? I doubt i'd allow my bike on a "parking lot" dyno setup even if it was free. Chances are higher it'll be inaccurate and who knows what kind of wizkids are running it. If they fuck up your bike somehow it would probably be hell trying to sue them providing your not fighting charges for killing them instead.

We had an open day last Sunday and put a different type of Kawasaki on the dyno. A Kawasaki mountain bike, just for a laugh and ran a competition to see who could produce the most leg power.

The guy who won made 1.75 bhp.

Bobc> ur a bully!... give that guy a beer!
************

Can i check w u guys, the dyno claims by most ppl which get abt 190-200hp. r they at crack or at wheel? the dyno can only measure from the wheel right? correct me if i'm wrong..

Cos I got 176hp after the exhaust and 164 previous stock. I was a little disappointed. there was no ram air effect in the dyno room. no air blown directly at the air vent. have i used a wrong map?

The TRE comment.................... he has a 2007 the TRE will STOP the deacell pop. If you have carbon silencer you WILL burn the packing out and Blister the carbon. I have kept
my TRE I don't like to hear the deacell pop every day. To each his own.

I told my wife I thought I had eight inches,

She told me my dyno was way off--

Strokedout I am confused. Is your engine stock or 1530 cc's?

You mentioned that you took the secondaries out today. Have you remapped it before you rode it?
