Thanks guys -- was wondering how the 14 would look with a 3" as opposed to a 5-6" stretch. Also wondering how it would handle in the turns, OFF the track and in the twisties. I'm not optimistic about that though.

How shit is shit? I also ride curves above average -- and I know it will not handle as well, but what am I really in for at 3", stock height? Is it downright scary on touchdown or is that now impossible?

FBA, Give me about a week or so and I should have some pics & comments on that for you. Funny, I was searching for the same information and for the same reason last week. Mild stretch (60" to 61" wheelbase) with hopes of not losing too much road handling capabilities, just enough of a stretch to keep the front down when rolling off in 2nd gear. Same as you on the gears 16/43 and the flies are going too! Lowered to the middle hole on the rear & down just over 1.25" in the front. I realize that the 16/43 gears require a longer wheelbase than the 61 inches that I'm going to try but I'm NOT setting this up just for drag racing. It may see the track a few times this year but will mostly be for the street. And don't any of you curve cravers start busting on us for wanting to kick the rear tire back another 2 or 3 inches... I just don't like the idea of bird watching when I decide to accelerate down the entrance ramp while getting onto the Interstate... and the front brake works much better if needed when the front tire is still on the ground, lol.

LOL-- I was one of those "curve cravers" who was pissing all over anyone stretching, NOT for drag racing...but I just can't take that back wheel sitting under that fender looking like an AMC Gremlin anymore...

This just plain sux --

FBA, So you did pull the flies on your 08? Silver08 is wanting to do the same with his but doesn't have a map just yet. Was it a noticeable difference? How did you map it?

Yup, but didn't install the PC3 yet. Rode it for a few miles only before the snow hit. Big difference, even on the 08. Just waiting for the new map from Brocks. You'll love it!

Don't worry Steve.
You didn't buy extensions, and your not running the stock spring or shock.

That Trac arm is 2x's as rigid as the stock beer can swingarm, the spring was chosen for a 200 lb rider, and 20% more leverage, or up to 5" stretch.

Not many drag racers even attempt to maintain stock steering angles or geomerty,
they salm the shit out of the bike, with out any concern for cornering.
they drop the frt-1", cause thats all the clearnce they have, then they slam the rear to the max, -3" and then whine about the handling.... duh!
Then they put a +6 inch arm , maybe some add a stiffer rear spring, and call it a day.

Fuck,
the stock shock and spring can't handle the stock swingarm.
Right out of the box, its way too soft. The bike wallows under its own weight! LOL
Stock swingarm is 24" long. add 6" and you just put 25% more leverage over the the shock.
without a stiffer spring, it squats, and rides like it was lowered 5" in rear,

Guys, you need to respring and revalve to match the leverage, HP, and rider weight.
Then you have to maintain stock steering angles in an attempt to keep stock cornering characteristics.

Go to Brocks website... what questions does he ask when you order an ohlins shock...
well, you NEEED to consider all these things, then consider that he is setting it up for weight transfer and total traction.

Steve, you bought the best componets the market has to offer.
Less swingarm flex, better suspension control.

Think about it, How many guys notice the differnce in handling, when the axle is all the way to the front of the stock swingarm, versus the very rear?
Thats 2"....

The only disadvantage your setup will have is the frt to rear weight bias will not be as good as stock. Tire pressure, will help that somewhat.

Don't worry... You will be surprised.

Lyle, I found a place down here that does complete swingarms like you told me about. My extensions are temporary until I find the length that I'm comfortable with. I'll get with you on the spring rates & brand by pm. Thanks for your help.

Lyle, I knew what I was getting into when I embarked on this project. IMO, there'd be no way the handling wouldn't suffer from that type of mod, but I was curious as to just how bad some of the guys here felt it would be, through their own experience. Knowing what I know about you, I believe that there's a lot of merit in what you're telling me and that the handling would be better than I expect. Anyway, worst case if I hate the handling, I move the wheel back up to stock position for riding and just move it back when I want to do some Boulevard cruising, or the C14 becomes my "handling" bike now, which is even better than the ZX (handling) in any case

Steve, How long until you swap everything over? I'd like to see what it looks like when you're finished. If I don't run into any delays I should be completed in less than 2 weeks, I hope.

FBA, I installed the Roaring Toyz extensions Wednesday. The shortest setting put me at +4" over stock, 61 3/4". I'll ride it for now, but will probably make a few mods to the slide bracket that'll allow me to drop back to +3". As for what it looks like just check out the pic above that Bently posted.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but "Dubious", your tinted turn signals and tail lamp rock. They aftermarket pieces, or homebrewed?

Thanks, and now back to swingarms..

Clear alternatives....
not quite as dark as i hoped, especially the frt ones...... some VHT tailight paint would fix that, but the integrated tail light is pretty cool, and has more led's than stock.
