TechMount releases new GPS mount for Kawasaki Concours 14
This release comes to us from our friends at TechMount - makers of some of the coolest GPS and accessory mounting technology for motorcycles today. With the thousands of miles we've already put on our C14 and no easy way to mount stuff, the latest TechMount will help make the lives of C14 owners around the world a little easier.
from TechMount...
TECHMOUNT INTRODUCES GPS/ACCESSORY MOUNT FOR NEW KAWASAKI CONCOURS
(Oakland, FL) Staying ahead of the curve, TechMount Accessory Mounting Systems has introduced a GPS/accessory mount for the brand new Kawasaki Concours 14.
Specially designed to mount in the center area between the handlebars for easy visibility, the new TechMount unit provides a safe, solid, secure base for a GPS or other accessories like a satellite radio, radar detector, video recorder, cell-phone, PDA , and toll-transponder, with the appropriate optional accessory plates. Replacement shafts are available to change the mounting-plate height, and there is also a double-top-plate kit to mount different accessories side by side.
The new Concours mount, like all TechMount systems, is as much an attractive, aesthetically-pleasing accessory as it is functional. CNC-machined from 6061 Aluminum billet to tolerances as tight as ten-thousandths of an inch, it is then anodized to both protect it from the elements and to beautifully match the bike's fit and finish. The Concours unit has a titanium finish. The kit also contains all the tools for a "very easy" installation.
TechMount systems hold 12 U.S. patents, and are all designed and manufactured in the U.S.
Suggested retail for the new Concours 14 mounting system is only $79.95, considerably less than would be expected for a product of this quality and construction. Units for other bike and ATV applications range from $59.95 to $94.95. Details and a Dealer Locator can be found at techmounts.com. Units can be ordered directly from the website if no TechMount dealers are close by.

Very nice, but my Zumo comes with the perfect center mount for the C14 -- it's free and can be center mounted, or at the left or right top handlebar clamps !!

Does it bolt on using the factory bolts for the risers?

No, because of the way the mounting holes "sit" on the surface, the bolts are longer and they do supply them..... The mounting hole area actually has small sleeves which sit IN the front mounting holes, thus requiring the longer bolts...
The bad news is, if you have bar risers, which I do, the new needed bolts are really long, and are hard to find. Because of the added length of the risers and the sleeves.... It's like 3.75 inches or longer....
If you have no risers, the mount takes 3 minutes to put on, with the risers, 3 min. plus the time to go get the new bolts....

I bought longer bolts; special order. They were 8 * 50 Metric, socket head, stainless, same as original. They were $12.00 a dozen from Fastenall. I had to use them because the Zumo GPS bracket (RAM) also required the longer bolts. I'd love to see a pic of the bracket installed when you have a chance...
Does it interfere with the ignition switch access at all?

Well no obstruction to key, just a reach around....just a bit.... NO problem.... Great anti glare positioning.....
Only one problem..... glare from the backside of the titanium upshaft in some sunlight angles on the computer screen.... A small piece of fuzzy velcro on that backside will cure that.....
All in all great...

I'm sure if you specify that you have an issue with risers, they'll accommodate you and add that info to their database for future owners.. they support a lot of models and can use all the info they can get!!
