230 MPH....!!!!

XXX:

Congrats brother!!!!!!That's quite a feat bro. Kudos for raising the bar and serving notice that the 14 that we know and love is indeed a "player" in the "serious" top speed ream. What kind of boost and RWHP are you making to put up that number?

Way to represent us bro....

what was absolutely satisfying was to see how methodical XXX and his Team were.

Each pass got incrementally better; we all stopped whatever we were doing and watched him as he went faster and faster, inching up.

That is fast! Because I don't know, is that a standing start and then timed at the end of the mile? Do they need to make 2 passes?

Absolutely insane speeds, I would guess that bike must be making 300+ rwhp to pull that off. I wonder, were they piling ballast on the swingarms? That has to start feeling scary at those kind of speeds.

As for GPS, people think it is the end all be all of speed detection. Unfortunately the unit has to poll multiple satellites every time it tries to get a fix, which is not as often as you think, and there are too many variables involved for it to be considered 'accurate' in a situation like this. You can't argue with timing lights, they post speeds to three decimal places because they can.

last year in texas, Ali's GPS read different than his time slip by a few MPH. I'm guessing the timing equipment in Goliad is calibrated and verified to some degree because it is a sanctioned event. Either way, those boys were haulin' ass---on Kawasakis! Now if the Texas mile folks would update their site....

My GPS was spot on... with in a few .1ths...
it really depends on the GPS and what your accuracy is... if it is within 100ft... it is a guess, mine was within 12ft all weekend...

GPS's are not even close to accurate during that type of acceleration 1bad. I sell tons of GPS for a living; I know that for a fact,. Try one at WOT on yer 14 and see for yourself. They only update once a second and I've seen mine go off by about 30-40 MPH at WOT in mid gears, never mind the lower gears...:P

If your speed was perfectly steady for 10 seconds within 1 MPH, you could get an accurate reading, but not during hard acceleration, no fucking way man. With accuracy of 12-25 ft, and at speeds of 337 FT/ Second (230 MPH), how "spot on" do you really think it will be? Accuracy of 12' could be 12' up or 12' down...say you were 12' behind your actual position on the start of the measurement and 12' ahead after the measurement -- that would equate to at least 24-25' or 7.4% inaccuracy on 337 ft traveled, in only one second -- well I'll let you figure it out...your GPS would be many seconds behind under WOT and heavy acceleration...damn man -- that thing would be a time zone behind your bike under that type of acceleration.
