Any Experience With Temp Reduction With Ceramic Coating

I'm hearing some good results with temperature reduction by applying a ceramic coating to the exhaust system. I asked Brock Davidson and he stated that he's seen a 30% reduction in under fairing temperature for the ZX14 when the headers are coated. That should significantly reduce the radiation into the radiator and allow the bike to run cooler, even when idling for a long time. Here's a thread discussing the results on another site : http://www.zx14ninja.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6222&start=0. Any one on this site had experience with ceramic coating on the 14? I'm seriously considering this.

Had mine Jet-Hot coated inside and out, and yes it is worth the $200.
Also notice how quicker it cools off after you shut the bike down.

I asked Brock to have mine coated before he shipped them to me. 12K miles later they look as good as the day they arrived. No rusty headers showing thru the fairing. They are much cooler than the factory pipes and with the CF canister I don't worry about my son getting burned when he meets me in the garage every evening.

If you look at Brocks latest brochure that shows the coated pipe on the red 14. That's my bike and I love the way the black pipes look with the red paint.

You absolutely won't regret wrapping, and you'll instantly notice the increased throttle response as a result if its anything like my track bike experience with wrapping. And You should solve track plastic belly pan melting dilemma too

Heat retention to the collector is a good way to keep exhaust gas flow at a high rate, will show increased HP, TQ - even more from scavenging if you have crosspipes or a staged collector. The wraps will allow for quick warmups, the downside is pipe corrosion unless you have a really good grade stainless or titanium. All things considered I prefer ceramic coating on street vehicles, track queens that are climate controled are OK to wrap.

I thought about wrapping my headers this summer. The local coater has a wait list and I don't wanna give up the 14, even though I could ride my FZ1 more. But then I did some research. Admittedly, these guys may be biased but I know some locals who have experience and said the same thing http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp. I decided to wait till I go on vacation this summer. I'll drop my headers off and when I get back from vacation I'll be good to go.

Damn! I didn't know Brock would send coated headers. I just sent him an e-mail suggesting he offer the option. If I'd only known, I'd already have this issue taken care of.

Oh yeah, here's the coater I think Brock works with. He sent me their link. I was checking into getting a spare header system coated and sent to me. http://www.afipowder.com/ The coater I found here in CT helped form Airborn Coatings and does a lot of work for NASCAR. Their main facitilites are in NC and OK, but the started out in CT.

Rapter, they may say heat wraps suck. But note the bikes on any race track are wrapped. My 600RR, as I said it was a notticeable difference in throttle response both on the track and at low RPMs. That being said I'll always keep the exhaust wrapped. I can't offer an expert opinion, but the pro guys that can wrap theirs.

Its simple to wrap and unwrap the exhaust, I thought if it was all the same I'd not bother but after seeing the response difference I'm with it
