The reason I ask is, I was just told kaw has plans on releasing a "r" version for the new busa coming at the same time.

The 1000 can hit the same top horse power but not throughout RPM range from low to high and what about torque? Anyway the 'busa is old news..... lets wait for the 'busa 08's....and the ZX10 is where its at this year regarding litre bikes....

Torque is one huge advantage the big bikes have over the 1000s. Like it or not, the liter bikes will always be at the top of the development ladder. All the liter bikes these days are very close in performance.
A 100 LB lighter Busa would eat a Gixxer 10X over...the 1000 makes 180+ HP yes...but makes no TQ. Also, look at the curve...big bore motors tend to make gobs of power throughout the entire band, meaning much faster times and harder pull, no matter what.
It isn't about peak power..it's about average power and TQ...and the BB motors run circles around the fastest production 1000's

Agreed on all counts. However, bench racing is most often run at peak horsepower without regard to torque or midrange.
I personally prefer the torque and midrange power of BB bikes over the light weight of the liter bikes. Not all of us can own both

Exactly . Power under the curve... not the only the peak.
Its the journey that is exciting, more so than the destinantion!
Steve knows where I was going with this,
oh yeah, and we want ergo's that do not resemble a dog humping a football.
