mine had alittle catch to it too when i got it. i found out by turning the key with one hand and grabbing the curb monkey protector on the front between the seat...you can wiggle it and it would pop off. I moved my latch back alittle by oblonging th holes and now it works fine.

What strap .....
My seat has a strap on it from the factory... but if the rear cowling is on obviously the strap is underneath it... I just pull at the end of the cowling lightly and the seat comes off easy... It is a hastle sometimes to get it back on with the cowling on... hard to line up exacty... and then it has the grubby little finger prints on it... I now carry a rag in my coat pocket to wipe the cowling, as well as the gas tank off. Black is so hard to keep clean!!!

Make sure you put the key into the seat lock, rather than the helmet lock.
