Brock Gen 3 Smart system installed

My Brock Smart 3 system is done! PC mapped for "No Flies". Here are my reflections on the setup.

There are no driveability issues whatsoever; the power comes on HARD at under 3K and pulls linear now till redline...the 6K hit is gone, because now, it starts at under 3...even in the higher gears (5-6) at speeds like 60, the bike pulls much harder than it did with the flies in...this is the way the bike was designed to run...almost full power available all the time. Engine doesn't bog under WOT or part either. (I say almost ful lpower, because timing is still retarded and with an ignition module, there will be more gains...substantial ones to IMO) Throttle response is now instant starting at 2K...

Feel: due to the removal of the factory can/headers...the bike is noticably lighter, even rolling it off the stand has a much lighter feel. Sounds great., looks smart, drives great and goes like a bat outta hell now. If you're gonna do a pipe setup, you have to remove the flies...otherwise you loose even more low end with a pipe change. The bike does pull a bit harder under 4.5K with the flies removed and the stock exhaust in place, but not huge differences, certainly not worth leaving the factory cans on. (If you've never ridden the bike with the flies removed and you change the exhaust and remove the flies, you'd never know anyway.) Removing the flies is the single most important mod one can do on this bike.

All I can say is -- Holy Fuck!!!

How did I remove the plates? Easy...

1) Remove the gas tank...and all plastics surrounding it
2) Remove intake covers...few screws
3) With a long philips screwdriver, remove each of the screws holding each of the 4 the plates (2 screws /plate), then just lift up the plates and toss 'em!
4) Reinstall tank and plastics, ride bike!

Vey easy job...I'll post some pics I saw in a few minutes...only takes an hour to do...and you need to apply steady even pressure to SLOWLY remove the screws.

This is what you'll see once you remove the intake covers...the leftmost intake port has the secondary plates removed, the right one shows it before removal.

make sure the primary plates / throttle stays closed during the procedure, so no screws end up inside the engine.
have a magneic pickup tool, or use magnetic screw driver, apply alot of pressure to unseat the screws, and use a #10 phillips.
Mine were really tight!... one screw head ended up a little mangled, and I was super careful.

Some people recommend heating up the screws with a soldering iron , to loosen the thread locker...
might be a good idea.
The screw heads look small, but actually need a large tip phillips, or you'll strip the head, and then you'll really be swearing.

Make sure you have 8 screws when done !

I'm on it first thing tomorrow morning. I'm pretty excited about it.
How do you feel about routing the exaust under the seat with a yosh carbon fiber slip-on? I measured it, and found someone to work the pipe, i also made a custom bracket but I don't know the downside(beside heat). I saw a guy at the bike night with it done, but I never saw him near his bike to ask him. It was the nicest system I've seen yet.
And last I found an online host for pics and I still suck at it.

all the extra curves in the pipe will not help power!

What if I use a slightly thicker pipe from the first curve to the end?

You know, I keep waiting for this "fix" for the low-end, w/o having to remove the plates. What is there to gain by waiting, if, in fact, there is no driveability issue w/the plates gone? More and more people tend to be saying no issues down low. Does the map alleviate the problems people noted earlier on in the findings? I'm ready to do it, when I know it'll be right.

I want definite, 100% answers for my particular situation. Somebody take care of that for me ASAP, will you? I wanna' do this!
