2006 alki sportbike show

The Sport bike Show & Food Drive is an event whose roots go back to 1997. Each summer riders meet on Alki to socialize and drop off cans of food for Northwest Harvest.

Created by and for Western Washington's organized sport bike clubs, the main organizer, Bret Nielsen of Team Open Throttle, has kept in the tradition of holding a familiar gathering of sport bike enthusiasts from all over our state.

This annual show gives riders and clubs a chance to share new stories, promote sport bikes, and actively support our community food banks through canned food donations.

The event is the perfect back drop to catch up with friends and enjoy great BBQ while strolling amongst fellow enthusiasts and motorcycles.

Past years (weather allowing) have drawn over five hundred bikes and riders with a walk through of well over three thousand!

Local media including television, radio and print have continued to support and cover this event. "It's a great event which gives 'us' the sport bike community, a chance to have our 'own' event and help put positive light on our misunderstood sport!" points out Neilson.

I haven't gassed the bike yet, but when I do I'm hoping it will take me back in time to when I weighed 180 lbs.

Damn, one 14 there at a dealer's tent. Besides that I was the only one representing... Ah well, answered the same questions about 80 or 90 times. Lots of Busa owners coming up and talking. Was all good, everyone was friendly and polite. Incredible beautiful weather. PERFECT day.

I only wish I'd been able to go. I'm only 15 miles or so from Alki but I managed to trap a nerve or some such thing. My right hip has intense pain and my quadriceps and shins on my right leg feel like they are on fire. The good part is that the only time I feel MOSTLY comfortable in when on the 14 since my hip just hangs there and the peg supports the weight of my leg. The bad part is I can only stand for a minute or two thereby not conducive to a large outdoor gathering. It would have been fun to go on such a nice day as this and meet up with you Swft!
