Brock/Hindle ZX-14 Exhaust System Development

Guys,
I wanted to give everyone an update on our ZX-14 exhaust development progress.

Hindle has tested various combinations including an arrangement similar to our Generation 3 Busa system which has been adapted to the ZX-14 per my suggestion. This combination is completely different than stock ZX-14 exhaust configuration.
As you can see from this dyno chart:

We now hold the engine power all the way to the rev limiter while the stock system noses over HARD. This is not a misprint or trick- we are talking about a 25 hp increase before the limiter stops the progress.

This test was conducted using 87 Octane Pump Gas with ZERO mods to the bike and NO Power Commander. The bike is far too rich to even make decent HP numbers....

I haven't traveled up to Hindle (yet) as I am waiting on my personal bike to arrive. We will begin our Brock's Performance system development using a modified ZX10 Power Commander and any other "tricks" the ZX-14 responds to. In addition, we will test a couple other configurations I want to try, air box/filter modifications....ANYTHING we can find to make more power with the stock engine.

After completion, our systems will be drag strip and high speed tested using a lambda probe mounted in the exhaust to tune to ram air. The best system will then be produced for our customers. I guess you can tell that we are more interested in having the BEST system available from Brock's Performance as opposed to the first. FYI: We should have the Hindle system shown on the dyno chart available by the end of April for those who JUST CAN'T wait...it is obviously working VERY well on the dyno and we were able to tuck it up higher than the stock system which allows the bike to be lowered more for quicker E.T.'s

The ZX-14's are going to be STUPID FAST in stock form when we are finished with them using our Hayabusa experience as a guide.

I'll keep you posted.

Any time.

Brock - is the Hindle system known for being loud? I may be in the market for an aftermarket exhaust, but I just want better sound - richer, fuller, etc - but not necessarily "wake the neighbors up" loud.

Awesome
Thanks Brock!

Everyone better be buying pipes, if they dispise anything but 1st place!

I will wait wait for the BEST, rather than 1st PIPES
You have just won my business!

Brock, what about head gaskets, and gearing Bro?
Looks like it could handle a rev extension... nother 500 rpm or so!
It would be a waste, to be bouncing off the rev limiter while trying to access all that power near redline ....on the strip!

I have little interest in doing 200 MPH, unless I can do it within 3/8 mile!

I would have to disagree with above....unless it was an old system with the packing blown out?

Our street Megaphone systems were designed because we had complaints that our Generation 3 systems were too quite.

Our Oval systems with the new muffler are slightly louder with a very deep tone.

We will not get into the engine until every last drop of hp is drained from it stock...then it will get UGLY

I don't know about that. My stepped Hindle on my 12 isn't loud as hell. The Yosh slip-on I had on it before that was louder

that stock baseline number for the zx14 is NOT impressive. 153.8 SAE is only about 160 horsepower on a STD scale. The gains are good because brock hindle is a bad pipe to begin with but those numbers are NOT impressive..

He also said it was stock. I don't want to add a power commander simply to get a properly mapped bike.

Brock,

I called last week, I'm already on your waiting list, just let me know when the final tuned kit is available, my bike will stay stock until then.

I would like to see what this exhaust system does BELOW 5000 rpm.

Above that the "Power Under Peak" is very NICE!

It would also be nice to see what the peak Numbers would do with a PC and tune.

Looking at dyno charts and coming to conclusions is not a good idea. Without a comparitive time line to reach redline, you know nothing to compare performance with the zx12. HP=MPH Torque=ET and RPM/Time =Acceration rate. The OEM zx14 will beat the OEM zx12 no doubt in everyway. Secondly. having set on one, the bike is lighter than the zx12. It may weigh the same on paper, but in real life it carries its weight different and probably has "heavy removeable" pieces.
