On/Off switch would make it more palatable to a larger audience, I think.....On/Off for me....and a digital readout speedo

I don't want it, extra weight that won't make it go faster.

I don't do much track riding and seldom find myself "threshold" breaking on the bike, so the added benefit of ABS wouldn't intrude on my riding style. I just want it for that extra piece of mind when it's raining or when I didn't see that little patch of gravel.

How about adding to the poll:
I live in Europe and the ABS is mandatory (France, Germany)
I live in Europe and I choose ABS
I live in Europe and I choose non-ABS
I live in Europe and I would choose on/off ABS if available

My opinion: I want ABS, but it would be better with on/off
Hey! That choice is missing?
(also missing: I don't care!!)

Gimme da sweetches meng.

Would be nice as a rider switchable option - I would think for rain or dirty road riding.

Otherwise, I've got my built in ABS in my glove.

I don't want it. Just another thing to break and I'm not very trusting of ABS systems, either. From the pics I saw, it looked like the ABS system on the 14 would also interfere with a lowering strap.

Poorly designed ABS systems do weird things when you have to brake hard on bumpy roads. In a car that could mean a fender bender, on a bike that could mean death. I'm not willing to try it when my current braking skills haven't let me down so far.

The ABS would be good in Bracket DragRacing for grabbing a handful of brake at the finish line, to be sure not to breakout !!!

I would like to test an ABS equiped 14 first...

That's what I say lizard. D, I wear the same brand glove.

My Jekyll side says,
I'm all for ABS, switch off-ability, and please, a few more ponies to compensate the (p to w ratio) HP loss.

Then my Hyde side says, fuck it. Why add the weight? You're trying to up the (p to w ratio), bat guano. Why have ABS if it saves your "Hyde" once if only for one time? Won't help me hitting that slick spot. I'll go down just like that! Didn't care about the BMW pebble thing. I figure I know how to get the wheel back, and maybe offer my brake lever exercise for fish (being anti-ABS) and frEEK (hoping this helps you avoid throwing it away again).

It might be a waste of time to relate my experience to you, but maybe it will help someone.

ABS, automatic transmissions and v-belts belong on cars, not bikes.

Thats my story and I'm stickin' top it.

ABS with a ON-OFF switch, traction control and computerized laser range finder so if an old lady pulls out in front of me while I'm doing 130 it ejects me automatically with parachute deployment.

hey fish
"ABS only if I cant switch it off!"
don't you mean "can"?

i seriously hope those that claim they're better (in all normal conditions) than ABS aren't entirely serious. granted it probably doesnt do anything for a _really_ good rider on dry pavement, but on anything but perfect racetrack dry pavement, the tests i ahve seen all suggest ABS is better than ANYONE in imperfect conditions. and even on dry pavement, i can tell you from personal experience there isn't always time to react fast enough to unlock a locked wheel with "the glove" as you may be sliding by then (human reaction time is generally > 0.1s i'm pretty sure).

in short, if you just ride on the track, then it's probably not a good thing, but any other situation, i can't imagine the cons outweighing the pros. of course, if u feel differently i aint gonna force ya to use it (who knows if the govt may do so one day tho).

How about if those claiming they think "all normal conditions" includes WET, and can back it up with a DVD mailed to them. Would they still be interested in a safe, but very dangerous (as in mental block) exercise?

I've been in those wet conditions. On my ZX12R in the rain, coming out of the I90 tunnel onto the bridge. Traffic stopped dead, lock the front end, feel it nose over. FORCE yourself to let go of the brake so the bike will snap back upright and steer between the cars...So yah, yer hand is an effective antilock brake mechanism. But damn, it's hard to guarantee consistency, and the practice sucks.

I have an 06 Sprint ST blue with ABS. (which im trading in whenever my ZX arrives)
I also have an 05 Daytona 955. For some reason I like the braking on the Daytona Better. Sure it requires modulation and all that but I guess it becomes second nature...
For abs you have to mash the brake to get it to stop... Imho it feels like it takes longer for the bike to come to a complete stop. Im sure it s a great thing in case of panic probably... but I haven't got totally used to it...

I guess i'd take a non abs or a switch on/off one
