Laguna Seca Moto GP News Update

The world's fastest motorcyclists are returning to the U.S. with the MotoGP World Championship at the 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 21-23 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In the midst of one of the fiercest seasons of MotoGP racing in history, American Nicky Hayden (the defending Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix champion) has taken the points lead.

This year's event promises to be even better than a year ago, as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has made a number of improvements to the facility and your experience as a fan! Changes can be found at www.RedBullUSGrandPrix.com or www.Laguna-Seca.com.

A new traffic flow plan is in place to ease entering and exiting the facility this year. Highlights of the plan include general admission auto parking off-site, with spectators transported via shuttle bus; a motorcycle-only entrance; and increased staffing and directional signage. More information on the traffic plan is available by clicking here.

Concession stands for this year's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix have been increased from the nine that were available last year to 54 locations for the 2006 event. Many more and better-placed portable restrooms will be onsite as well.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Corkscrew Clothing Co., the official souvenir store of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, will open an 8,000 square foot souvenir store during the 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The store, located in the Yamaha Marketplace vendor expo area, will sell both 2005 and 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix merchandise, as well as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca 50th Season of Racing merchandise. Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix merchandise is available by clicking here.

For those of you who missed out on the initial allotment of paddock passes for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is giving you one more chance to purchase them - and the best part is, everyone has an equal opportunity. Hurry, your opportunity is limited - you may register to purchase paddock passes through Tuesday, June 6. Click here for more information.

General Admission tickets are still available for the 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. Last year's event sold out, so purchase your tickets today. The MotoGP World Championship, only at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Having seen pictures of the "improvements", the one I have the most issue with is the runoff area on the inside of Turn 6. It appears that rather than being able to go down virtually trackside from Fox Hill, there will be a cliff with a fence at the top, making it the top spot to throw crap onto the track from high above.

The increased runoff at Turn 1 is A Good Thing, filling in the dip on the way to the Corkscrew was a move designed to placate some nutless Euro-Trash.

I will inspect all the above in person.

Are you making some outrageous claim like rules apply to me or something?

I might, just maybe, break a speed limit or 2 in the 3500 miles of riding to get there.
Rules are for slomos.
