R1 HP Claims! !
Here's da poop:
......With the introduction of Yamaha's new R1 and AMA rules now allowing 1000cc four-cylinder bikes in the Superbike class, it seemed a natural that team blue would make its return to the series in 2004. The new bike has addressed the R1's two obvious problems: a chassis that wasn't as stiff as necessary for top-level racing; and a power output about 10 ponies shy of Suzuki's dominating GSX-R1000 in stock trim. Inside sources guarantee us the 2004 R1 makes at least 10% more than the 150-hp Gixxer, meaning R1 dyno numbers should stretch at least into the mid-160s!........More at link.
What say you folks? Could it be? Is the R1 a ringer? Or merely a pretender?

The R1's were obviously fast at the Dunlop Daytona tire test. I think they had done their homework. The bikes looked pretty well finished judging by the photos I saw. This is going to be a great year for liter bikes. Make my new liter bike slime green, plz.
