Bridgestone BT-002's

I didn't want to post this in the 14 section because majority of them are drag racing guys. I'm a twisty riding guy and like to run the corners. So, I was wanting to know some opinions with these tires on THE STREET while riding hard?

They stick good while in full lean and on the throttle?

I'm use to Pilot Powers and I know them really well, but I was curious about the BT-002's.

Yeah, I found some links through google reading other people's reviews and I guess the BT'002 melts FAST when you're ham fisted!! I'm not buying it.

Don't believe everything you read. I've been running them on my 12 and R1's since the 014 was discontinued and I've got no complaints. They stick very well and decent mileage. It's a dual compound tire, a bit harder in the center than the 014, hence the better mileage, but sticks like glue in the corners, excellent feedback too.

Here is Bridgestones take on DOT race tires....note the disclaimer at the bottom of the page. Also make note that you cant get anything but left over stock of BT 002 DOT race tires. They are currently making the BT 003 which is a much better tire IMO as I have raced on both. The only BT 002 in production is a street tire, which would be fine for street riding, as its a totally different compoind as the BT 002 or 003 race tires. But nowhere on Bridgestones description page does it say its dual compounds. Note the disclaimer on the bottom of the page:

Care and Use at Low Temperatures
Battlax Ultra-high Performance Tires may crack in the
tread area from impact or deformation at low ambient
temperatures. Handle and store these tires with care.
Additionally, always ride with caution (avoid sudden
acceleration, maximum braking and hard cornering) until
the tires have warmed up to operating temperature,
particularly in low ambient temperature conditions.

Here is the write up off of Bridgestones website on the BT 002 STREET tire....doesnt say anything about dual compounds that I see.

Mentions dual compound for front but doesn't mention rear. I use these for trackdays and have had no problems with them.

good catch DB...but its still a street tire, so even though the tread pattern is that of the DOT race tire, its NOT a DOT.....its still a street....Dual compounds woudl be nice, but I dont see it being much different than the BT 016 in construction.

JUst going to be a matter of preference.....

yes the 003 is a DOT race tire, and a very good one at that....I raced them this year once we could get them. Up to that point I raced on the 002 DOTs and did fairly well all season.. I like the feel the 003 gives better than the 002s, the carcass is different as is the rubber....
