removed 2nd butterfly *update* 10R or *holy fack that's a fast bike* ***PIX ADDED***

:EEk

all I gotta say is holy shit... can't keep the front wheel on the ground in first now... to be honest it's less rideable now with the additional power, but it made me laugh out loud in my helmet.

Anywho... it's all seat 'o the pants and that's all I got ta offer other than the shit eating grin I had..

14 side of the site prompted this...

as for air/fuel etc.. bike will prolly need a map to correct for addtional air..

I might put them back for rideability's sake... too soon to tell.. need's ta go fer another ride

very very interesting though.

I got a power increase, but not to the extent that you did Fish...on the 14 the gains were huge...on the 10, they were there, but to a much lesser degree...still worth the mod though. Where did you see the biggest gains? At what RPM?

Be nice to see someone isolate what gains this does with a dyno/mapping. Just got mine dynoed yesterday too dang...still good information to see documented...I suppose the gains will be mostly down low ? maybe midrange too?

Interesting stuff for those of us keeping the 2004-05 ZX-10R's

I'am gonna be busy this week pulling flies out of the 636,10 & 14. Fish I will map them on dyno would you like me to e-mail you the map? I have a BMC street filter, full Akro evo 2 on the 10. If anyone else has done this mod I will gladly send you the map just drop me a PM.

I've got a track day @ Pocono Raceway coming up on 6/27 the ten is already an animal, can't imagine much more power coming out of it.

Well, yea I can.

NO stumbles anywhere down low? Throttle response is still smooth on corner exits?

Do you have a PC on your 10? If yes,did you fiddle w/ it at all to compensate for the extra air?

NO it's not that. If you remove the air box you'll notice that there's two sets of throttle blades UPPER & LOWER. The lower ones are completely controled by your right wrist. The Upper one are ECU controled. The ECU sees fit to limit the amount of throttle you can use at any given time. By simply removing the Blades ONLY and leaving the rest of the system intact the ECU thinks it's still doing it's job, but now you're in control of the amount of throttle being used. It does you no good to open the throttle completely up with the lower set if BIG BROTHER (ECU) is actually the one that controls how much air is entering the motor. This system is the first steps in FLY BY WIRE complete ECU controls. The future will probably NOT be as easy to fool the ECUs on these things. Our right hand won't control much more than a desire to speed up. The ECU will have the final word and that probably won't be what we want when we want it. (BE CAREFUL NOT TO DROP ANY OF THE SCREWS WHEN YOU DO THIS!!!!!!!!)

D...it's so simple you don't need pics...just remove the air box. You will see 4 stacks, 2 short and 2 longer angled ones. The 1st thing you see in each stack is the upper throttle plate. 2 screws are holding each plate. Apply lots of pressure as you loosen the screws and then just lift the plate out once you have removed the screws. Use a magnetic screwdriver to ensure they dont fall onto the throttle plates below. The whole process should take about an hour and a half or so, if this is the first time you are removing the airbox. I did it on Friday...power gains are nice. I added about 4% fuel down low...
