SUSPENSION SETTINGS FOR YOU KIDS TO TRY....
A little testing has been done and we found that these settings work pretty well for street and track, "YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY!!".....If you like it great, If you dont...put it back the way you like it......ENJOY and be careful..(NOTE....these settings were tested on a 2005 model)
Fork spring preload= standard, 14mm (measured from top of preload adjuster nut to top of fork cap NUT)
Fork Rebound= standard , 9 clicks out (from the first click of the fully clockwise position)
Fork compression= 10 clicks out (from the first click of the fully clockwise position)
Shock spring preload= 1 full turn of preload "out" (soften, from STANDARD setting , spring length=178mm.....YOUR sag will vary depending on the condition of your shock and spring)....(Loosen upper lock ring nut, mark a spot on the lower ring nut, "NOTE the position", and turn it counterclockwise until that mark comes around to the SAME position,Tighten your lock ring nut)
Shock Rebound= standard, 1 3/4 turns out (from fully clockwise position)
Shock compression= 3 1/2 turns out (from fully clockwise position)
Works well with Dunlop GP's 180/55-17 RR
NOTE......BE CAREFUL "NOT" TO JAMM THE ADJUSTER SCREWS IN, JUST TURN THEM IN LITELY, and use a good screwdriver so you dont booger up the screw head.

In other words, pretty useless for us lowly '04 owners, eh?

@extremelean
I have very similar settings on my 04 model and I can confirm your experience ... it works great! Especially reducing the shock spring preload makes a big difference when riding over bumpy surface ... the rear wheel does not longer lose ground contact and jump around ... it's still firm but really smooth!
My street settings - I am 85kg
______________________
Fork spring preload = 15mm (standard is 14mm)
Fork Rebound = 9 clicks out (standard)
Fork compression = 9 clicks out (standard is 7)
Shock spring preload = 4mm less preload than standard (replaced the standard 3mm shim by a 7mm shim in order not to change the rear height)
Shock Rebound = 1 3/4 turns out (standard)
Shock compression = 4 turns out (standard is 3 1/2)
Track settings
___________
Increase the fork compression to 5 clicks out, the fork rebound to 7 clicks out and the shock compression to 3 turns out ... now you should have a good basic setup.

dont worry about it unless you're off the scale either way... like 30 lbs or 300lbs.... just dial it in and try it.

Okay, I'm your test mule.
I wanted to wait until I had fresh rubber in back (kinda fresh up front) before doing the static/rider sag measurements. Interestingly enough, 1 1/2 turns (not quite 1 3/4) resulted in a rider sag of 33~34mm. Not surprising, seeing as how I weigh 235 lbs in full gear. The majorty of my other settings were similar, as was the rider sag on the front.
First thing I noticed was that the back end no longer "bucked" in the corners like it used to. A far more stable and controlled feeling exiting corners under acceleration.
Thanks, boss.

I found that the settings made the bike "squat" on the rear end and made the drvies from corners considerably easier.

i will give these setting a try as well. I took my 10R through it's first run in the twisties and nearly shat myself. The stock suspension setup is horrid- felt like I was on a mx bike over any uneven pavement and I the feel (And Brakes) gave me zero confidence. I sorely want to get this bike sorted.

I put 350 miles on these settings today and the bike feels pretty damn good. It's really settled and I don't have a damper either. Overall the 10 R kicks my12Rs big fat ass Tis a SAD day indeed for my Silver Baby.
