Go big, or not go big?
I know, stupid title right....what my question is is this. For those of you that are doing trackdays on your 10, are you running the 180/55 or the 190/55 on your bikes?
I have a new 190/55 that I bought for the 12, and I think i am going to use that on this next trackday...has anyone done this? I am also going to the 120/70 on the front, as opposed to the stock 120/65.....just wondering....

I'm running the Dunlop 208 GPa tires in 180 at the rear. I do alot of track days and haven't had a problem with them, plus the price is usually pretty good even from the vendors at the track. I was grabbing a big handfull of throttle while apexing the kink at Road America this week and she never broke loose.

I'm using the 190/55 and 120/70 here and have absolutely no problems what so ever. The back is 3cm bigger than the stock 218 and the front is 1mm shorter so I haven't even messed with dropping the front or raising the rear, and I haven't experienced and stability issues either. So I say go for it with confidence, they work well. Bythe way I have the Supercorsas, SC2 back and SC1 up front. Hope that helps even a little.

Wot bike do you have? Stock front is also 120/70.
I go on track with 190/50 pilot race.

I've read that ya might hafta slot the hugger some in order ta accomodate the additional tire size/growth (have seen someone that got a longer chain for clearance and stability).

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I made the necessary adjustments on my hugger when I first got the bike since someone pointed out the clearance issue. Can't remember what specific tire was the problem though.

well that was my mistake, I thought it was a 120/65, but it is in fact a 120/70.......oops
D I wanna keep the wheel base as short as possible, so i will take the hugger off if I have to...its not that big of deal to me....I am more concerned about the handling issues with the bigger tire on the back.....
I am running the SC2 front and SC3 rear in the hot weather of southern GA...I have already put the Kennedy adjustable dogbones on it, so i can rasie it up, or lower it if need be...I will give it a shot and take it eassy for the first outting to get the feel of the bike....thanks for the input fellas...

HDL > I didn't alter the hugger at all and I haven't touched it with the tire either. The temps here have been anywhere from 102 to 110(obviously hotter on the asphalt), and humidity at anywhere from 60 to 90 %. I have absolutely no problems whatsoever with the tires. As a matter of fact I ran about 12 seconds off of the record at the track here, which is held by a guy that has an 03 GSXR 1K that is basically a superbike as they run "open" any mod goes, so have no fear they will "hold". Oh and above all have fun(like I needed to tell you that).

I definitely hear ya there! I need to find somebody that knows ALOT more about suspension than I do, cause I figure the times should really drop then.
