Trouble with slipper clutch? I was riding the cherohala skyway this past weekend (Deals Gap area) and I was getting it pretty well and when hot into a corner and slammed it down to 2nd and the back end locked up and got me into a mess and there was a major ass cliff. Scared the shit out of me. It has not ever let me down before this incident. Has anyone else experience any problems with there slipper clutch?

How many miles on your bike? How often do you launch the bike hard? Slipper clutches can los some of there slip effect as the plates wear down. My race bike is beginning to do the same thing. You can fix it by changing the first metal plate in the clutch pack to the 2.3 mm thickness instead of the 2.9. It will make the thing free wheel a lot though, so be cautious at first

I have around 3400 miles on it. And 800 miles were break in miles almost to recomendation. Shouldn't this fall under warranty?

clutch is a fair wear and tear item....basically unless the basket fails, or a hub, its not gonna be covered.....but if you sweet talk a dealer ya never know what you MIGHT get....

What about road traction? If you were on crappy surface, like some leaves, gravel or moisture, it's possible that made the back tire slip. Only definative test I can think of would involve a dyno. You'd have consistent traction there...

exactally what swft said...if road traction isnt there the tire will slide. nd if you are hard on the front brakes the tire wont have much weight on it, and it will skid......another thing you might check is your oil....I found on my 6Rr that the clutch worked much better in the slipper mode with 10-30 in it as opposed to 20-50...and new oil worked much better than old oil.....so i would check that stuff before I worried about it being broken....change the oil and try it, see if its better, this time pay attention to braking and how much load you have on the front of the bike....JMO
