copywrite 2004 www.bikeland.org ?

The word is copyright, not copywrite.

I'm don't think you can copyright information that's part of a general release of information by a company to the public, but if you're going to try you may want to used the proper term.

not true dave... infact everything you read or write on this site is copywrite bikeland.org .. In addition to that, the information about the recall I posted was not public information and it came from my direct converstations with KMC.

Nothing on this site is "public information". That's one of the reasons you log in. Perhaps one of the reasons you find information here you might not find elsewhere.

but nice try though!

It's still COPYRIGHT and your reasoning, though debatable in a court of law (U.S., that is) would be rather shaky at best. Not in all cases, of course, but in this one, if you tried to to tag someone with infringement... well, good luck. Any decent lawyer could use the fact that you used the word "copywrite", even though you meant "copyright", to invaladate your claim.

Legally, "copywrite" offers no protection. No matter what your intent was to say or imply. When it was suggested that the information could be posted elsewhere (giving credit to Bikeland.org), any legal claim you might have had via the general protection of the private forum itself... was thrown out the window. Having to give credit to it's origin went right out with it. You would likely have had faired better if you had at least spelled it correctly. In it's current spelling, it means nothing.

Nice try though.

sorry.... I never use a spellchecker as a crutch, like you do, so often as I type things out I make the odd spelling mistake... hey.. .even your former vice president couldnt spell all that well! (potatoe) ...

but on a serious note.. (I just threw the copyright thingy in there for fun... I see it worked!) I dont entirely understand your arguement.... you are arguing that because of a typo in the post, the copyright is invalid?

Perhaps you have forgotten the service agreement we have in place that gives members access to this site. You know very well that the information posted on this site is the intellectual property of bikeland.org ..

That's not a debate... you're one of the people that pointed that out years ago..

thanks ... I'll go "adjust" my post!

and as a sidenote redelk etc... a copyright statement (spelled correctly) appears at the bottom of every single page on this site... it's been there since day one...

It was pretty public, I saw it on other sites before I saw it here, even the usually slow MCN wrote about it the same day you did.

you can check my long distance bill and if you'd like further proof

Dave, what you fail to understand is that I was the one who confirmed this recall to be in effect for the USA. MCN is not stateside, nor is KMC germany etc etc. Sure .. .MCN reported it for germany and europe etc, but not for the USA. I see that you are in Florida. Perhaps you would like to contact KMC germany everytime you need help?

Hmmmm....not sure Dick_antlers wants the kind of 3 way Turbo's talking about there.....

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Fishy has a point there. While he may not own the information, he most certainly can own the text itself - despite how asinine we think putting 'copywrite' on a post.

If that were the case a news reporter could copyright an event or information so no one else could report on it. That ain't gonna happen.
