BEAR

Could you please give the members a bit of background on yourself and your theory as to why these VS will have superior performance to the OEM units of different lengths.

BD - trust me on this, he has plenty O background and is not one to jack us off bout stuff like this.

His stacks for the 12's were proven time and again to work - lotsa threads on em at LAB and prolly here in the 12 section too (search would prolly bring up lots under Bear or stacks).

I am interested to see some dyno charts though.

Hey Big....
Maybe my post will hold you over 'til Bear responds, he is a VERY busy man.
Pierre (Bear Engineering) lives in South Africa and has been instrumental in helping the ZX12R riders out with his stacks. I was the first to try his original short stacks at Maxton where they increased top speed on my 12 from 197 to 203mph with no other changes.
He has since then came out with a longer version that will increase low to mid-range hp and tq. I've had my best 1/4 mile times with his long ones since I leave the line at 4,500rpm's. For top-end runs or high rpm racing the shorts have worked out best for me.
The stock rubber stacks on the 12 distort somewhat when tightened down, his aluminun stacks of course will not. They are a perfect fit and the airflow is smoothed out, helping airflow as speed rises.
Pierre will spend countless hours on the dyno to figure the best combination out for the 10 like he did on the 12. He is a honest man that has helped many 12 owners and I'm sure my son will be in line to purchase a set for his 10 when they are available.

Fair enough. My intentions were not to doubt the credibility of BEAR by requesting such info but to gain some feedback from someone like yourself or others (BEAR)

Thank you BD

I too am very interested in these. As you mentioned the stock ones distort quite badly and I have to imagine that they may not hold up well to the inherent pressure in the airbox at speed. Please keep us informed as these come available.

I did not know I still had so many guys following what we do in South AFrica ,Big Daddy I did not take ofence on your comment ,But yes I will not put someting in the market If I did no do my Home work. The stacks start working in mid range and give you 5 to 8 hp on the top but that is not where the big improvemet comes ,with Ram air you get the full picture.
Our bikesare restricted at 300kph and we get there mutch faster now.

On the Zx12 as oldkawboy said he whent from 197 to 203mph with no other changes, 5 to 8 hp will no do that you need more,But there is no way I can prove it to you

Mr V Hill Knows me well and he will keep you guy's posted

We have run 7.66 at gainesville at the Ama prostar last year ,and we would like to try out our ZX10 this year currently making 178hp all stock parts, I do this as a hobby my main line is Engineering

Yes, I have just a "Little" knowledge about what he makes and how well it is made and my Dyno results and the real world results.

Posted in reply to the idea of an estimated price quoted by a member!
The Only problem I can see with the New ZX10 Stacks is The economy of the United States as Opposed to the South African Economy. In 2002 when I put the first deal together to buy a set of Bear Stacks, it took 12 to 13 Rand to buy "1" US Dollar. Now it only takes a little Over "6" Rand to buy "1" us Dollar. This means the $150 set of Stacks now would cost $$300 US Dollars to buy them "Wholesale" and about $450 Retail. This is something we cannot change. The good news is, these stacks produce about twice the static HP as the stacks did for the ZX 12R, not to mention the fact that they do not have the critical "0" ring fittment either.

I have spoken to Bear and I know that he has not figured out how long each stack would take to make in a "Production" enviroment, but just looking at the History of the stacks and the cost of Money, I am thinking that these in a group buy are going to cost in the High $200 to Low $300. I have also considered the fact that I have spent about this same amount of money for several Items for my ZX12. My Progresive Controller, the timing Retard, PC3r, the Upper Billet Tripple clamp (2 of them) and even my seat. So it is all relative. SO what I am saying is, I would not look for these to cost as someone suggested $165.00

The ol exchange rate will always nail ya when ya least expect it.

5-8hp for $2-300 is still less than adding a slip-on (ad the stacks would seem to be the better deal too).

Hey fellas.
I am another recovering BEAR stack user.

I had a set on my 12.

One thing to keep in mind - the stacks will be worth at least as much when you go to sell your bike as they were when you bought them.

I sold the stacks off my 12 when getting ready for trade in.

I sold them for what I paid - coulda charged more
(but I'm a, 'nice guy' to my, 'bros' on the board).

Keep my posted BEAR and Mr. Hill - you know I want some....

Now Bear ...178 hp - please at some time give us a clue as to where the low hanging fruit is.

THANKS GUYS!

Would you believe I actually have the set that are in that picture? They weigh "Zero" or less and are like pieces of Jewlery. They are over here for a little "Testing" and Dyno work!
