British National Records

This weekend, well Sunday 13th and Monday 14th sees the first genuine ACU British records meeting for 20 years at Elvington Airfield near York England.
The stock production class looks pretty nailed on for the new ZZr14R if Kawasaki UK have got the speed limiter sorted out and we have a varied selection of bikes and three wheelers turning out.
Spectators are welcome and it £10 to get in to watch records being set in flying quarter mile, standing start mile and a full distance of 1.4 mile.

Just got back so here are a few numbers for you.
Class one completely stock ZZr14r 2012 model with only the speed restriction removed ridden by Kawasaki employee Craig Watson 197.60 mph in the standing start mile and 203.72 mph in the 1.4 mile standing start, all he did was remove the mirrors later and changed the gearing to run 201..16 in the mile and 207.12 mph in the 1.4 miles.
He was fastest in class one Stock and class 2 slightly modified.
Fastest in class 3 which is built motors etc was Lloyd Davies 1630cc Busa at 222.8 in the mile and and 225.490 in the 1.4 mile
No nitrous bikes ran in class 4.
Class 5 turbo was won by Mike Grainger on his turbo busa new British national record, 242.090 mph in the mile and 249.1 mph in the 1.4 miles.
I ran second in the turbo class on the ZX12r with 233.610 mph in the mile but after frying the brakes on the first day I tried stopping from the 1,.4 mile from 216 mph and barely stopped in the braking area so decided to try again another day with some better brake pads.
It was a great couple of days with a decent tailwind gusting 12 to 18 mph generally but because it was an official ACU sanctioned records event we all ran both directions within an hour so the records will be lower average speeds when they are ratified shortly.
The speeds above are just the fastest today.
Another record breaker was Zef Eisenberg on a turbine engined 250 c18 at 200.8 in the mile and 204.47 in the 1.4 mile and fastest lady on a turbo busa road bike was Jo Stevenson at 224.140 in the mile.

Those are all great numbers, and thanks for disclosing the tailwind conditions. It is nice that you guys have the ability to make return runs and the averages should be interesting.

Oh yes Karl definitely team Fat Ass material, track temp was also low all day which had me using tyre warmers to try and find some more grip, bike a bit long really as its used for quarters too.
We dont normally run both ways but this was an official ACU sanctioned records event.

In Ken's absence: The complete results from the meeting haven't been posted on Straightliners yet but on Tuesday Trevor Duckworth said that there were 46 new UK records from the two-day meeting.

The ratification process might take a while, most of the record-breaking bikes had their engines sealed by the ACU inspectors and will be measured in the coming weeks. I don't know if Trev is waiting for this or just up to his eyeballs in other work. Members usually get an email with meeting results but a records meeting may be different.

All the records are awaiting ratification as Bob says but here is the raw timing data.
East West was into the wind and West East had the tailwind,it shows this on our tickets but i am not sure if it shows up in these results,

Quick update on lady rider Jo Stevenson: yesterday, September 11, was the season's last Top Speed Tuesday at Elvington and Jo went 243.5mph in the standing mile - which we believe makes her the fastest lady in the world over this distance. She rode Jack Frost's turbo Hayabusa.
