I am getting desperate!
I need a Kawasaki zx11 D engine. I know that one of you has to have one siiting somewhere gathering dust. So please could you all check you dust piles and see if somewhere in there you could find a zx11 motor you might want to sell. Thanks bunches.....

it would be sacrilege to put a 14 or 1200 motor in the D Meyer legend bike.
gotta find an 11 motor, there must be hundreds of those bikes rusting away somewhere.

Sheeeit, call a cycle salvage yard, you should be able to find one cheaper than $1350. I sold a good 2006 ZX10 motor for $900.

Dean is on the money! Call around to some salvage yards.
1350 is high as a giraffe's ass. I bet a salvage yard will sell you one for 900 or less.

All the ones on Ebay have been rebuilt and had crank work done on them. I dont think that is ok if the crank is going to be stroked. And yes 1350 is way high. Please keep your eyes out for me. No salvage yards around here have one. I have been looking for a while. Thanks again!

Funny you should mention that, Ship. I was riding my ZZR yesterday, thinking about just that and it dawned on me that I don't think there's a reason why a ZX-11 head wouldn't fit on a ZZR. The ZZR doesn't have the down draft ports, but I think my (Bren's) head would go right on a 1224. Let's just think about that for a bit. I'll ask Steve Rice and see what he thinks. Hang in there Bren.

The 1200 block is nikasil, I wonder if the water ports will match up?

The 1100 head will not fit on the 1200 motor. Bore spacing is wider on the 1200, studs are layed out wider and the bock is slightly wider. A whole ZZR motor should drop right in a ZX11 though. All motor mounts are the same and carb spacing and header spacing is the same.

Did you mean ZRX, because the ZZR is downdraft?

Of course it won't work. As Steddy said, the bore spacing is different and the cam chain C/L is 3mm further left. Duh.I knew that. And yes, the ZZR is downdraft, but I always assumed the carb spacing was different. Is it the same?

As far as I know the carb spacing is the same as the ZX11. Should be 77-85-77 if I remember correct.

Here is a brand new stroker crank for sale and Mike(the guy selling it) is a real good guy. No worries on buying stuff from him.

Osti,
That's a +5. too big for Brenda's bike. Needs lots of work to get that in there. Pretty sure you gotta lose the starter.
Jim,
Bren's crank snapped outboard of the right main brg. The rotating assy kept running with everything staying in time so the pistons, valves, head, etc., are unscathed. Not sure why it broke, it doesn't look like it was cracked, but the break is quite large. The basket is broken as is the starter/gen drive chain, so I'm guessing that started it.

Just curious, who did that crank and when?
