11/19 Friday Streetbike Seminar 1/4 mile action at MIR

So who's officially in?

I'm taking my 250 down....of course it needs a gearing change from Maxton. Should be fun...I miss the strip and even though I'll be the slowest mofo out there I'd rather run then not run.

Shane you definately in?

2000redrocket?

I'm going to make the drive from Dayton, OH to see if I can get into the 8's. This will be my

We finally got to the dragstrip today. Unfortunately I didn't have time to install the airshifter, so we knew would not get the most possible out of the bike. Not to mention that she had never ridden a 14 at the dragstrip before, and had less than 100 miles total in the saddle of the bike. We weren't too worried about it, since our main goal was just to test the bike and get her some seat time.

Still, things went pretty well. The air was very good with a DA of perhaps 500' or less. We ran the bike on 93 pump gas:

How about that mph! 158 mph on pump, footshifting. There were no gale-force winds, either. Another Bikeland guy was running his 12R, and it was running in his normal (for great air) 149-150 mph range. I think that the these 47mm throttle bodies might be helping. The 1/8th mph was not very consistent...I believe that her shift point was very near the 1/8th mile timers. The highest 1/8th mile speed for the day was 126.xx mph. Racheal also cut a .000 light today, which is always nice!

I didn't ride the bike much...I need to re-learn footshifting, lol. I did have a little fun with the 60', and turned a 1.45, which is about normal for me.

Overall, we had a great time and the bike performed well. It will be interesting to see what next year holds in store, with more seat time for her, some MR9 or MR12, and an airshifter.

As usual, it was great to see some Bikeland regulars. In attendance were Crotchrocket, 2000redrocket, and Icarus. Everyone had fun, and went pretty fast.

looks like i got 20 passes in. 8 in the 9.3s 6 in the 9.4s getting things sorted and some slower ones from the biginning of the day. i was happy crotch rocket had a good idea so i went with it and then every pass after that if i did not botch it was mid 9.3s
these are the good ones. i wish i would of got in the 9.2s again. ohwell.

Wow. Impressive, congrats to both of you guys on the runs.

Shane...in looking at the slips....it seems crazy that Rachel's 14 is putting on average near 10 mph over 2000redrocket's 12. Their 1/8 mph is close but her backhalf almost looks like nitrous.

10 mph is crazy, especially on pump gas and RR is a little lighter than Rachel.

What do you attribute to the relatively high speeds she ran....good conditions...good tuck....good tune.....carbon wheels....throttle bodies?

Just seems high but I'm definately proud of her and job 2k on going the speeds....you guys had similar et in the end.

i my self think when she gets it in the low 1.5s or high 1.4s the mph will steady out lower to 155 or so. shane may have something different to say. i have high mph on slower 60fts and higher 1/8mph in great 60fts. it is a different bike than my little 1200 though.
one thing is it hauls ass with her on it. great job rach.

I have seen this before when the shift point is around the 1/8th timers. If you look at the pass with the 126/157 split, that probably gives you a better idea of how the bike was running. She can also tend to be a little slow getting wot, and that can affect the 1/8th mph a lot, I have found. For example, I normally back half around 26-28 mph. But in testing last year, on a 2.xx second 60 foot, I was able to back half 34 mph...basically equaling my best mph on 1.4x 60 foots.

I am fairly critical of timeslips, and timing lights. But, you have to look at what the bike was running compared to known performers. For example, she was making these passes back-to-back with redrocket...and only one lane of the track was open.

I am very anxious to see how the bike runs next year.

Shane
