dad ran a 9.30 148 NA
decided to try spray. bike didnt launch right(i dont think he was up on the 2 step) bogged then went like a bat out of hell. 9.4x 159
second try nitrous pressure 950, direct port dry shot 40 jet. 2 step at 7500, window switch at 8000... he kinda had to back out of it

my batteries died after this

next run, window switch at 9500, 800psi
1.46
3.87
5.82 127
7.44
8.90 159

just touching the limiter at the line

next run window switch at 9250 800psi

1.50
3.85
5.75 132
7.36
8.82 158

backed out of it just before the finish line, on the limiter
we are happy
tomm should be fun

DA was just over 400 feet and dads 254 unsuited. kinda cancelled out lol.
it was tough keeping bottle pressure up on the 2.5 pounder, i used an electric bottle heater in the pits and a small torch in the lanes, which ive been advised against, but worked like a charm

i dont have a 55 but we have 16 52... im just not sure if we brought it. im at a hotel right now. i think the 52 is still on my rim at home from when i was running his bike at the last event(17 52)... the goal was 8s. we did that, so we arent going to drive 3 hrs to swap sprockets if we dont have them in the morning. its just bracket racing tomm

That's great ! I love the video.

Tell him I said congratulations on reaching his goal but I'm betting he wants to go faster.

How "young" is your Pops??

he does want more. he wants to build a motor that will do that without spray, but is pretty happy with the 8s as is. we will try the window switch at 9000 tomm tho if all is going well

Scott....
I can`t stress enough about the torch on the nitrous bottle thing.....
I`m sure you`ve heard about the recent death because of someone doing that.....I`ve started using a electric hair dryer and am looking fo a 12v hair dryer for times in the lanes....I`ve also used those chemical hand warmer packs and put it in before the bottle so the bottle sits on top of it in the bottle bracket....I never knew what happened to the metal once the bottle has been exposed to the flame....Some organization will DQ you if caught using a torch.....
Sorry, just giving you a heads up ok.....

If I see someone using a torch, I give them a wide berth. That is just a big, deadly, grenade. A cheap idea might be to fashion something from grip warmers, they are sometimes had much cheaper than a bottle warmer.

X2....Another idea is to find a seat warmer out of like a Cadillac or a luxury car...They`re 12volt and can be had at a salvage yard too....
I have two 2.5lb bottles that I bought used and they have burn marks on them and don`t dare fill them or use them now.....I`ll never buy a used N2o bottle again.....JMO....

im going to look into other means of heating the bottle in the lanes, something i could hook up to an 18v dewalt battery maybe. i do know enough to move the flame around and not try to do the "cutting touch" method of heating it up.

the wheelie didnt hit the cut pan, just the knuckle as far as i can tell

we backed it up today. track was pretty cold this morning, and spun a bit, but did have 1 clean run later on that we decided to end the season with.

ran a 9.23 NA 148ish on the first pass this morning.

spun bad on a nitrous pass, 8.97 159
spun some on a nitrous pass, 8.81 @161 hitting the limiter. (we didnt bother with changing gearing)
and ended with this (we turned the activation rpm down a bit, i think 9000 or 8750)
1.40
3.73
5.66 128
8.76 157.8 letting off the gas before the traps, into the limiter hard

on that run the bike stood up about a foot or 2 (hard to tell from behind) a few feet out when the nitrous was comming on strong. dad held it and it actually bottomed out when it came down, minor spark show not really enough to be caught on camera. bike is fine, but in need of a flat link

8.81

8.97

8.76

Sounds like you guys had a ball!! I haven't been able to race in a while and my son (16) will break into drag racing next season and he's very excited about it just as I am for him. I worry though because he is so competitive and I have somewhat of a reputation at local tracks as he knows this because he's watched and been my silent cheerleader because he is pretty quiet. He will ride an 09' ZX10R that runs in the 8's. Not even considering N2O! No way... Maybe another year or so I'll think about it but I seriously doubt using it unless I go progressive 2 stage with a launch limiter and slider clutch. Other than that just learn the sport and have fun.

i think it needs a progressive box to come in any sooner, but thats what im trying to get to. get rid of the bog with a power adder it definately has more in it if its getting him that kind of mph. i think it had an 8.6 in it with that launch if he hadnt of run out of gear. the plan is a billet low first and 16 52 for next yr
