Hard for me to really compare as the 200 was wore down pretty low, so it was flat. Lol, it looked like the contact patch on the 200 was almost as wide as the 180! Out of all honesty, after this tire I will probably get a 190.

You oughta see the contact patch on a 330 tire! That's got to be the best....right?

if they made an 11 pound 330 maybe
as far as i can tell the 190 shinko had just as much, if not more contact area than the 200 on a 6 in rim

There are so many variables when you talk about contact patch...depending on setup it can vary when using the same tire. The way the tire looks when mounted static on the rim is not the same way it looks when you launch the bike. Very, very quick bikes have run that Power Race 180 tire.
When I ran that Power Race 180 it hooked for me at 63.25", 16/45 gearing, 20 psi hot...on a 45 degree day. But my 60 ft's were only in the 1.50-1.52 range. Let us know how it works out on your setup, Eklipse.

Here is an example of how much the tire can spread, even with 18+ psi in it:

Now that is the 190 Power Race, which I used for clearance (the 180 is taller), but it gives you an idea that what you see on the rim right now is not the way it is going to look when you launch it.

kz scott, i have learned this weekend its not all about contact patch, its about grip! yesterday i ran 25 psi in the power race and that bitch HOOKED! they are going overboard prepping the track this weekened for the pro street guys but i didnt think it would hook.. well that little contact patch will not attempt to spin, none whatsoever. it actually took me 2 passes to understand how to take off, as i was use to a little tire spin.

After 3 days of running 25 psi in the power race and had 9, maybe 10 passes throughout the weekend with temps ranging from maybe 55 deg to 80 deg (air temp) it hooked perfect! I don't believe I will run a shinko again. As long as I can find a michelin I'm sold on these. If I have to run a race takeoff I will before a brand new shinko. The michelin got me into the 1.3 60ft's. Now the question is how long will it last?!

If you treat it just as you do a Shinko, it will last the same, if not maybe even longer.
I have 20 passes on the new Power One, and it still looks untouched.

Oh no, Dusty...you need to follow your original plan. Remove that tire immediately and get a 190, because of the 180's narrow contact patch. I'll give you $50 shipped for it.

Also depends on what grade of track you run on.
On good tracks, like tulsa and noble, my buddy ran a pilot, or metzler, all year, and it looks like it has some left. take it to our home track, and it gets ate up quick, because the track is not as smooth. I can get twice the life out of a mcr at tulsa and noble. at home, i eat them like a fat kid eating cake.

Time for a rear tire change:
Power Race 190/50/17:

This tire has about 150 dragstrip passes, 50 miles of top speed LSR runs, and a couple of hundred street miles. Plus around 50-60 dyno pulls. I figured it was a good time to change it since I could be looking at 40 passes this Saturday (and dyno time tomorrow).
Replacement tire, Power One 180/55/17:

It seems that the Power One is about 1 lb. lighter than the Power Race. This was verified on a UPS scale which weighed my Power Race at 13 lbs and the Power One at 12 lbs. The shipping weight of the Power One is listed as 11.6 lbs, and I think the UPS scales read a little high, based on my own results with two different scales.
The Power One has a much more flexible carcass, which should be good for drag racing.
The circumference of this tire measured at 79" on the 6" rim.
