Y2k says:

I gotta see if i can make this one. I've never run a bike down the 1/4 mile. I guess I'll have to get up to LVD and practice before the event. Maybe I can get it into the 10's

Jim,
This is an ORDER (from yr friends):
You MUST make the June 1 event! You are an original #1 contributor to this site and this IS NOT OPTIONAL, nope.
I will call yr wife so she will force you to attend if necessary

(BTW: i measured the sized rod's big end at max 45# tq on bolts and they are round @ that tq. Lower tq = egg shape.
45# = round
45# gives higher end of bolt stretch spec, but in spec)

Ryan, Thanks if you want to sell the links and straps let me know. I'll need them, I dont have a set.
What about those bolt on removeable extensions? Are they safe?
Or what about a set of weld on adjustable (stock to 6" over) ends?

Karl, I'll ck to make sure nothing is going on that weeknd.... shouldnt be a problem.
This last evern oct 6th, we had a wedding here at the house for my Busa owning brother in law from Escondido CA. So That didnt work out.
Talked with the wife and she would actually like to go as well. Thats a shocker. She usually isnt into this sort of thing anymore sence she retired out of racing herself.
Geez, next she will want to race again !!! LOL

Sounds good on the rods. Also make sure all parts are at room temp when measuring. But you allready knew that I'm sure.

Jim, the extensions are more than safe!!!...You just need a longer chain, and a 17 tooth with the wheelbase as far back as possible with your motor...You better take your rear fender off too!!!

No charge for Bikeland members, especially you Jim I'll spend plenty of time with you before and after you make passes!!!...You will enjoy this event...

What rear fender? I cut it off about an hour after I got the bike home from the dealer

Hey, whats with this launch master thing Schnitz sells? Its like a traction control thing...
Anyone ever try one?

I know on the street it wouldnt be cool because the front wheel is always barely touching the ground and a lot of times not.

Yea it sounds like fun.

Y2k.... I have a set of bolt on extensions you can borrow. Super strong clamp bolts and tested to over 320hp. Gives you 3" to 6" more wheelbase.

Just let me know. (also have at least a dozen sprockets of different sizes if you wanted to experiment with gearing)

Karl, she drove a "C" rear engine dragster for several years. It was Don Prudomes old rail. (1978) She raced at Englishtown NJ mostly.

TB, sounds good. Do you want to sell them? I might just retire this bike from the street.

Thanks Mike. This wasnt really planned untill just a few days ago. I didnt really know I was going to drag the bike. But Ryan has some extra stuff laying around so I might as well put it to good use!

What front springs are you drag guys running? I was going to change the springs anyway to 1.0 springs this winter for the street. The stockers are .86 and are getting way too limp even for the street now. The rear is way too stiff as well. Going to reduce the rear rate.

So I was wondering what rates are best for dragracing? What sag do you guys run for drag racing? I guess with a strap in the front sag isnt an issue but the rear would still need to be set no?

Well I wanted to keep them. If you're going to retire from the street a dedicated arm would work better for ya.

Just shoot me a pm with your address and Ill get them out.

Yea that works for me.

Yea J was a gearhead when I met her. She still has a 67 chevelle SS that she bought JR year of highschool. I just restored it for her. Its a 502 now with a tko600 5 speed. We were friends first and worked together at a chevy dealership in the early 80's. Shes cool, not your typical chick. She likes guns, hot rods, and millerlite and can totally understand the need for supercharging. She runs 2 car dealerships (general manager) and doesnt take any shit.

Mike,
if Jun 1 is an absolutely no-go for you maybe we can try for Jul 27??? Do a poll.

we ought to lock it up pretty soon, tho.

Jul-27 is a no go for me. I'll be out of town. However if it's better for the group you should go with that.
