Made 4 1/4 mile passes on the ZX14 !!!

I finally got to take 4 passes on a Candy Blue ZX14

The 14 was slammed, 16 tooth sprocket and Muzzy pipe, thats all the mods it had!!!

The 14 has a more comfortable DragRace possition than the 12...The hydraulic clutch is the best I ever felt as far as hydraulics go!!!...The lever engagement acts like a 12 but just a little numb - meaning you dont feel the clutch in the lever as you do with the 12...But I will say this, I made 4 passes in 1 hour in the 84 degree heat and the clutch felt the same every time, way better than the 12 since my 12 would have been heated up and clutch too grabby...

I rode the 14 the way it was handed to me, and ran a 9.76 @ 144.63, launched at 5000...I rode it as I do my 12 and it is definately not like a 12 !!!...I then adjusted the clutch lever to #4 which felt good...2nd. pass was a 9.81 @ 144.26 launched at 5500 with a 1.64 60' on a wheelie but couldn't get my foot under the shifter in good possition...3rd. pass was a 9.72 @ 144.71, 5500 launch, 1.71 60' and a 4.26 330...117.50 1/8 mile mph...Little less rpm 5000 and more aggressive...4th.pass 5000 launch up to 6000 when clutch out not enough gas but ran another 9.72 @ 145.37, 1.69 60', 4.25 330, 117.50 1/8 mile mph...

What do I think about the 14 now???...I still like it even though it's alot different than the 12 and owning the 14 means learning how to DragRace from scratch...I need time on the 14, most likely a couple of Jason Miller's StreetBike Seminars of about 30 passes each day and I'll be going decent ETs!!!

The 14 to me feels alot like the 12, but with a different motor!!!...But better than the 12!!!

The 14 I was riding had a full tank of 93 octane gas, and it weighs 706lbs. with with tool kit under seat and me on it after the 3rd.pass...I weigh 185 with leathers, boots, gloves, helmet...

I will buy the ZX14 in 2007...Hey Kawasaki make sure you make the Candy Blue for 2007, thank you!!!

nice times for your first rip on a zx-14. you launched at around 5k and just laid into her without any hesitation? full on pinned the throttle?? did it wheelie bad? did it wheelie in any other gear besides first?getting my first servicing done soon, then going to launch. i admit, im a bit scared/nervous/hesistant because I DONT KNOW HER! i only got 300 miles on her so far of light break-in riding, but well see... hope you get the 07, im sure that youll enjoy it.
i dislikedthe 14 because its nothing like my 12, but, maybe its just different in a good way?

Thanks guys...The wheelie was about 2 feet high, thats what my friends said...No need to be scared at all, the 14 is alot more forgiving than the 12...You need to really lay into the throttle on the 14 so dont worry to much about wheelies at first...

The 2006 14 is the new generation of smooth flawless Kawasaki's...I will definately buy one and know that I will love it more and more!!!...Since riding the 14 already I realize how easy it is to ride compared to the 12...Sure the 12 is seat of the pants fun, but the 14 is a gentleman's Rocket...

OK, who's bringing a 14 to the DBZ GR 2 ???

I wonder where all this extra weight on those bikes is.......

My buddies weighed like 785 with him on it , on NHRA scales, that was 100 over me, but he only weighs like 50 more than me............??

Are they that heavy? I sat on his, other than the seat, they feel okay................

I weighed my 12 with 1 gallon of gas and it was 508lbs.

Actually the 14 is 10-15 lbs. heavier than the 12, both fitted with aftermarket pipes!!!

Mine is right at 500 or 495, depending on how much is in the tank, and airshifter tank.

I will bring my 14 if you want to beat on it Rick....BONE STOCK

Hey, what do you know. My 12 might be there too.

I rode mine an hour down to RRR last weekend and talked myself into racing it. I made 17 passes on it in about three hours, three of them in the last 10 minutes the track was open. I was a full tenth faster than a slammed stock black 14 with a 40 lb smaller rider, but I was not exactly impressed with my times. I made two passes on my old 10 in there somewhere. Pretty good racing fun though, about a dollar a pass......

I will weigh it if I go back down. Never crossed my mind for some reason!!
