Metzeler DOT Legal Drag Tire

I ran across this tire at the Dealer Show and thought I would share it with the rest of you. It's the Metzeler Dragtec DOT Legal Drag Tire. 190/50VR-17.. From what I seen it looks like a real nice tire and I'll be trying it out. It's softer then the MT and looks like it has more rubber, too last longer. Won't be out til Mid June.

I am pretty happy with my shinko... but I am not sure if the big motor will spin it or not...
I wonder if she would mount my tire

Yeah, DWB and I also noticed it. We picked it up and even on that BST carbon fiber wheel that tire weighs a TON. It feels a whole lot heavier than a mickey to me.

Woo hoo, i will try it out as well.

Mike, which shinko are you running? Thinking about trying the Ultra soft 190, do you think it will work at 68" with stock motor, pc and pipe on a decent track?

I heard it is only a "v", and everyone is downing it for that, but, my MT catalogue shows the shootout tire to be a V too. EIther way, I got one coming........, and for 180 no less!!!! woo hoo

That is one MEAN looking DOT tire. Almost looks like an all out M/T DRAG tire with that car-tire shape. So this would be legal in 60" and other "DOT" classes where MCR2 and Shinkos are run? Looks pretty aggressive!! ME LIKEY!!

yeah, I am thinkin it will hook like mad........

I am all for having a reason to add weight to my front end!!!!

I just hope it will out hook a mickey......, i think adjustable links will be needed for all, like the REAL long ones from Spencercycle....., the tire looks tall

I will say though, I do miss Pro ET, and that 7 inch slick, for the 1.32 short times I was running, to keep from getting the motor too hot, we did 4th gear burnouts..........., impressive if nothing else..........

I hope this tire will be like sub 150 buck range........

Got dimensions and weights to compare?

I bet its gonna be higher price, a metzeler trackday/drag race tire supersoft costs 283.99 in dennis kirk. so this tire is gonna cost more than a M/t id say.
